I remember Alan pardew got us to the Fa cup final by loosing nearly every single league game at the turn of the year. The league form continued on the next season and he had to go unfortunately. Who can forget his last game against Swansea 5-4.

After it sitting with me a day I can see the reasoning. The league is bread and butter.
