Yes maybe they’ll be half decent and have a go at us which will suit us better. Larnaca were a dreadful niggly ‘orrible team who just came to stop us and they nicked it, I think we’ll have learnt a lot about the joys of European football that night and will be much better.

I’ve got to be honest, I haven’t booked a Leipzig hotel as I don’t have the confidence in our chances others do. If we get a goal in the first half I’d go 1-0 but I can see us struggling to break them down, going 1-0 down and settling for a 1-1 draw.

Hope I’m wrong.

I have booked a Lepizig hotel which can be cancelled no nothing to lose. The prices now are through the roof
 
If Wharton is well enough to start, that would make a big difference. He has that quality and speed of thought to unlock packed defences. I think OG will put out our best available XI and I think we'll win. 2-0.
 
I'm expecting it to be a tight game and a real fight for the win. I'm going 2-1 Palace but I'm expecting Alkmaar to be significantly better than both Dynamo Kyiv and Larnaca.

Being joint favourites with Florentina has not helped and our lack lustre performance against Larnaca
should be a salutary warning to take any teams seriously.
Our lack of European experience could be our downfall.

However 6 points after 3 games should restore confidence, but if we lose it will take a big effort to qualify for the knockout stages.
 
The Dutch League compared to the PL is so slow and weak that any results/standing overhere mean close to nothing. Considering our budget is between 6 and 7 time theirs we should be superior if we field a strong team. But we all know that means little on the day, look at Larnaca or Villa at Go Ahead Eagles.

Dutch teams are widely considered to be generally naive in their attitude of always wanting to attack, even against stronger opposition. I am not sure however that will be the case tomorrow. They usually play 3 upfront, so that will be interesting.

They have a couple of gems in Midfield in Smit and Mijnans together with the younger brother of Teun Koopmeiners. Goes in central defence is a maniac in trying to wind people up with shoving, pushing and pinching but suspect he will quickly be shown how to behave by JP.
Their goalie is suspect at long balls, definitely chances there with set pieces.

thanks for the insider info cos I am clueless, though the feeling in my water is a chilly ripple and not a warm jacuzzi, I think we need to go strongest XI go full pelt at them, double up on Sunday then collapse during the international break.

Yes that is him, highly rated. Would love him to sogn for us.

Ajax still has the name bit AZ’s youth system has recently been the best in the country. They won the UEFA youth league in 2024. No mean feat considering the big European teams scout players below their teens.
 
Does anyone know if we are likely to be able to catch a full replay of the game on TNT sports after the game? I can’t watch live but really want to see it.

Chat GPT is confident it will by about 11pm but I don’t want to skip updates only to find I can’t.
