A word of warning to all those intending to travel to Lublin and Rzeszów airports on the 2nd October.
I am a Brighton fan and I wouldn't want any of you to miss the match as I enjoyed it when Brighton were in Europe and it's a buzz and a half.
I have lived in Lublin for 26 years and there are some issues in this area at the moment related to the Ukraine war.
Whenever Russia launches a mass attack on Ukraine like they did today they close the airspaces around Lublin and Rzeszów and so far this has happened three times.
Lublin is quite close to the border and it's a very sensitive area right now and there could be a high possibility that the airport will be closed if there is an attack in Ukraine that night.
To be 100% safe on seeing the match I would not go by Lublin airport and rather fly into Warsaw and travel down to Lublin by train, which the ground (Lublin Arena) is five mins away from the main train station (Lublin Główny). See screenshot below:

When you arrive at Warsaw by plane there is a train station directly at Warsaw Chopin Airport (Lotnisko Chopina).

The station is called Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina and is located underground, directly beneath Terminal A. This is where you can catch the trains that will take you to the main city center, including the Warszawa Centralna train station

Warszawa Centralna train station is where you can catch the train to Lublin.
You can purchase a ticket from this website and also find out the best train to catch the 18.45 kickoff and an example is below from this website where you can also purchase the ticket.

Just download your ticket to your mobile as a PDF and show it when you are asked to on the train.
If you have got any other questions then by all means just ask, but I have only one request, don't go kicking my head in if you see me in the u Szewca Pub in Old Town, which is my local. :drunk:😉
Enjoy the game.

P.S. The most popular taxi services in Poland are Bolt and Uber and they both operate in Warsaw and Lublin if you get stuck.

Thanks Ukpolska! Great of you to give us info as a rival. The request is a fair one, we would shake your hand if we see you there which we might do.

As things stand I’m meant to be changing flights at Warsaw to travel onto Lublin. I’ve seen the reports on the airspace closing multiple times on the news over here, and it is a concern. Luckily it’s a fairly lengthy stopover in Warsaw, so I should be able to find out the situation on the ground as I wait.

I guess if everything kicks off again and they do close down I’ve got options. If I have to go by land I’ll check out the train first and if I can’t get a train ticket it’s good to know there is Uber as well.

Would it be hard to get a train ticket on the day?

But surely if there’s a problem the airport would be closed ensuring a refund whereas flying elsewhere would mean paying the airfare and there not being a game on?

Thanks for the post. Unfortunately I booked a direct flight to Lublin a while back so doubt I can change. Bit of a gamble now, fingers crossed no issues otherwise it's a trip to Luton Airport for lunch then back home to watch the game.

No it is very easy to purchase a ticket even on the same day and I have even bought a tickets an hour before I've traveled on the internet.
However, if you have any issues on the east side of the Warszawa Centralna train station there is a ticket office that speaks English and other languages.

I would have thought that if the airspace is closed then you will have the option to take a train to Lublin.
Crossed fingers everything will go smoothly and the airspace will be open.
Word of warning about the taxis in Lublin as unfortunately they will see a foreigners as an opportunity to make a bit of money and I always stick to Uber or Bolt as you know the price beforehand is fixed.
Also, the number 5 bus goes straight to the train station in Lublin, which is the cheapest option at 4.60 PLN which is about £0.75, which is a 5-minute walk away from the Lublin Arena as in the map in my first post above.

Really kind of you to go the trouble of advising us of all this. And very helpful it is too. Wear your Brighton shirt at that pub and we'll seek you out and buy you a drink.
