Advice for Boro fan please

Can anyone offer advice re the upcoming cup match please.

Have been to Selhurst Park many times over the years, but it's been a few year since our last visit.

After the game, how busy does Norwood Junction station get ?
Are there long queues for the trains back to London Bridge ?
Assuming it's a 7.45pm kick off, and possibility of penalties, how likely/unlikely is it, that we can catch the last train northbound from KX at 11.33pm

Norwood Junction station is only a 10 minute walk from the ground (15 minutes if your an old codger like me) the entrance to the station does get quite busy directly after a match, but its not too badly organized, I tend to drop into the Jolly Sailor pub (250 meters from the station) for a couple of pints after the game to let the crowd disperse -

There are 7 trains between say 22.00 hours (6 of them direct) to London Bridge & the last train at 23.33 -
I don't think you will have any issues -

If you can get a Thameslink train from Norwood Junction (8 minutes walk) which takes about 35 minutes. However, I don’t know about evening matches but queues do form to get into the station. There is a fairly stiff walk from St.Pancras Thameslink platforms to KX platforms 1-8. Allow 10 minutes. Alternatively take the fastest train from NJ to London Bridge then Thameslink or Underground (Northern Line) which saves some of the walking.

If it goes to penalties it will be touch and go. Bring a tent and sleeping bag!

Norwood Junction to London Bridge 14 minutes - The last usable train is the 22.30 to London Bridge -- arrives 22.44 (ish) London Bridge is, in my opinion, the easiest of the Main London stations to navigate (even when shitfaced) London Bridge to KX 26 Minutes - The last usable train to KX is the 22.58 which (if its on time) arrives at 23.24 gives you 9 minutes to find your train -

Seems to me that your going to have to be out of the ground by about 22.10 (ish) latest -

There maybe easier , more time efficient ways to do the London Bridge to KX leg of the journey to enable you to use the 22.46 from Norwood Junction to London Bridge - arrives 22.58.

Better hope it doesn't go to penalties -

Our biggest concern, is probably the potential time lost in the Q's at Norwood Junction 🤔

Also sometimes away fans can be kept behind too. But I'm sure the boro fanbase are okay so might not be a problem.

I used to walk to East Croydon, depends on how fit you are but might be an option if NJ is busy

Or if the game ends in 90 minutes go to Thornton Heath which is quieter and is about the same walk from the away section and catch the 22.13 to London Victoria (22.40) and catch the tube ,Victoria line to kings cross which run every 5 minutes and take about 11 minutes .

You should be at KK by 23.10 at the latest ,time for a swift pint to drown your sorrows 😛

yes, i would do similar, but maybe from Selhurst station to Victoria. About 20 min journey.

Tube from Vic to KK much quicker and frequent than from London Bridge.

League Cup games generally aren't as well attended. I don't usually use Norwood Junction but do any fellow fans think this might reduce risk for Boro Boy? I.e.: would the queues be as big for this fixture?

Besides, Boro will win in normal time and none of this will be a problem!

Then once you’re in the station you can just move to your platform of choice. The LBG train will normally be on the platform directly as you enter from the clock tower side.
You should make KGX in good time.
The Queue for Selhurst station will be worse than Norwood Junction and whatever you do don’t use the side alleyway for after the game as that queue will be even longer.

I usually give up on Selhurst and walk to East Croydon. The back entrance is a definite no-go (said no Croydon girl ever). None of this was any use to the OP though, apologies.

I stopped going back through selhurst after the games for this reason. I go to thornton heath station now which strangely is mostly empty 🤔
