Summer Transfer Window

I know the winter window has just closed but focus within the media now seems to have shifted the summer window, and where the bigger clubs are still lacking in certain areas.

Once again, now we are on a run of good form our players are seemingly being eyed up by the bigger clubs.

Munoz by Chelsea, Man City and Barcelona (though the last one a take with a pinch of salt, as they are struggling to register players.

Mateta - any club needing a centre forward

Guehi - Spurs, Newcastle, Chelsea, Liverpool

This is without the constant links we get for players like Wharton, Eze, Mitchell.

I really hope we are not going to be left having to rebuild the team again this summer, as we saw earlier this season, it takes time for new players to gel into the team.

Fortunately, I don't think there are release clauses over those 3 and Munoz/Mateta still have 2 years left on their contracts.

As for Guehi, he has to be going in the summer with only 1 year left on his contract. Replacing just 1 CB in the summer hopefully isn't too bad, along with a new permanent left back.

I think it’s safe to assume Guehi will be sold this summer. Muñoz will go if he decides he wants to leave. Ollie has said if a player comes to him and says he wants to leave then it’s likely to happen. I can’t see us selling more than 2 players. I would hope Dougie is scouting replacements already.

Hard to say besides the obvious, on what we will do this Summer. A lot will depend on how the rest of this season goes. Guehi will be 100% sold, I see no reason that will not happen. Mateta? Very possibly if he keeps up this form and we get a significant offer for him.

If the above happens, we will obviously need to replace Guehi(Carter-Vickers from Celtic or Wooh from Rennes realistic options to replace him).

As far as a striker goes, Nketiah just does not give me much hope and I would like someone like say Duro from Valencia or Krstovic from Lecce. Need another LB also as Chilwell will go back and another midfielder as well.

A lot to do, just have to hope we are thinking ahead now and have a good plan in mind with OG being the head of things.

Can't we just enjoy the rest of the season? It's only February.

Clickbait will sell all our players.

If only Hrolf....if only.....It would be nice not to worry about these barstewards gutting our team.

That said, some of the hairstyles deserve a transfer out if only for that reason.

I think all Premier League clubs except for two or three do. And even they have problems at contract renewal time. I suspect the signing on fees and whatever other clauses exist make it more lucrative to seek a transfer, rather than stay put.
It's a free for all that only benefits the top earning clubs......Well the ones that are savvy and whose wages paid match player performance.....If you look at the wages for some under performing players at top clubs it's nuts.

Back to the topic at hand.

Guehi, as much as I love him, we need to be smart and cash in at the right time, which is probabely this summer. Hope he gets the move to Liverpool as the VVD replacement.

Mateta - think we'll try to tie him down, and I think he'll sign. We're got him under contract for 2 years so IF clubs came after him we'd demand a big old fee. As much as I love him, there will only be a certain type of club he'll be right for (e.g. no Liverpool, city etc). So in England at least its going to be that 2nd bunch. So could see villa or Newcastle interested if Isak or Watkins get poached.

Munoz, contact up 27 with a year option. He'll be 29 in the summer, cant see any truth that any big club would go for him. Would need a big bid. Plus, he seams pretty tight with Lerma. That probabely has some sticking power.

TM, great defender. Not good enough with the ball for the top teams so cant see any interest there.

Eze - too inconsistent, not a chance in hell anyone is going to come in for him.

Wharton - will be too big of a risk with the injuries and the fee we'd command.

Lacroix - I'd be surprised if there isn't some interest there. But we'd hold all the cards.

In summary, I cant see there being an exodus.

RE inbound.

Riad is a bit of a fly in the ointment. Wont be back before the start of the season so we'll need to be signing some cover. Ideally we'd have 5/6 centre backs. So we may need to sign 2/3

Its clear from the Chilwell transfer that OG wants a propper wingback. If Chilly does well the chances of signing him are low, but you never know. If not, expect we'll be interested in Diouf again.

Chalobah, is a known entity. Looks he enjoyed his time here. I'd assume we'd try to make that happen if the money is right.

If Franca and Esse can contribute this season, with Sarr and Eze thats probably the 10's sorted.

Then I'd love a Munoz understudy, but no idea who.

And something else a bit more creative centrally (but the club may see Kamada as that player)

Out
Guhei - £70m

In
Chalobah £20m
Pavlovic £20m
Chris Rigg/Bellingham £20m
Chilwell/Diouf £20m

Then Hughes gets another contract, might need to give Clyne one too. And need to sort a 2nd keeper.

I wouldn’t be so sure about nobody bidding for Eze. I know he’s not had an outstanding season but he’s still in the top 10 in the EPL this season for chances created and has more assists for us than anyone else. That will be more than enough to spark interest. In a world where Max Kilman goes for £40m I can easily see somebody bidding £50m.

The rest looks right but I think Chalobah looks optimistic at £20m. Don’t think there’s any guarantee he’d want to come here permanently as I suspect he’ll be looking for a bigger club and higher wages. No way will Chelsea sell for £20m. £35m to £40m maybe. Same with Pavlovic. Can’t see Milan saying he’s worth £35m and then accepting £20m.

Will have to wait and see on Eze. Yeah i mean Kilman at 40m is absurd.

You are probably closer to the truth re prices. And no way do I think we'd entertain Chalobah for 40m. Madness.

This spec happens every year. Few (good ones) actually leave. Olise brooked the trend.

The spec is generated by writers who draw the clicks and thus the revenue based on the size of the club and thus the size of the fan base.

Read no more into it.

A ball-playing central defender, one of the most composed defenders in the PL.
Wolves signed him from Maidenhead Utd and he never had any Loan spells at a League club before he made his PL debut.

On the admittedly unreliable Transfermarkt, Chalobah's price has fallen dramatically to E13M and Pavlovic is at E17M. However, those prices are fair gauges if you sub the currency and add EPL mark-up to possible value in the summer.

If they are both bench warmers from now till June, the clubs want/need to sell, and few suitors come a calling, don't expect those prices to rise much no matter how much the selling clubs demand.

However, I accept the players may baulk at the pay drop. Few seem overly impressed with the prospect of regular play, being valued, possible international call ups etc. Perhaps we can lure them with improved sponsorship offers? Then again, Gallagher and Loftus Cheek showed little desire to come back and eventually profited from their decision, so I expect the same with Chalobah.
