This is a list of current players, playing centre forward, premier league only, goals per minute, info from Transfermarkt:
Calvert-Lewin 276
Solanke 274
Jiminez 246
Rashford 239
Welbeck 236
Hojlund 235
Watkins 211
Wood 210
Nketiah 210
Mateta 181

The guy deserves a decent run with JP in a front 2, he is better than people think, i rate him highly in that position. he deserves more than the 156 minutes he has played at CF in the Premier this season.

It was an odd signing and I think most of us were asking why the club have spent 25-30 million on a striker when we had one of the most in form strikers in Europe and only play one up front. I think you might be right that we should at least give it a go with two up top although a lot will depend on who is actually fit in two weeks time. If it's a hamstring then I'm not sure Nketiah will be fit.

Genuine question. What makes you think he is better than the consensus view? What have you seen this season or before that makes you think that? As I say genuinely interested in your view

I think he is a natural goal scorer, AJ style, one position man, CF, he is quick and intelligent and will get goals , him and Mateta as a pair should be the starting point of the team line-up, bit more direct, but OG, knows best.

Thanks. So would you go 4-4-2 then? In that system I think we’d have to invest in at least 2 more wide players in January as right now the squad has only one in Sarr. Of course many of us thought a wide player should have been a priority in the summer but here we are.

I always considered Nketiah to be a penalty box type player.

I've barely seen him in that area for Palace.

At the moment he looks to me like another square peg in a round hole.
If he is going to play it has to be up top. However, he quite clearly offers much less than Mateta in terms of overall play. So we’ve basically spent £25m on a player who was always going to be on the bench or out of position. Just bonkers business.

For me it says a lot that Arsenal are clearly desperately crying out for a penalty box forward who can finish yet snapped our hand off to be rid of Nketiah.

It looks that way at the moment.

I can only see Nketiah being effective alongside another striker.

I think you have hit the nail on the head there: he doesn't look like the kind of player who would work consistently as a lone striker but we are unlikely to play with two up. It begs the question of how he fits in to any OG starting XI.

I actually don't think he's a bad signing, he offers something different to mateta and would strengthen most squads in the bottom half. The problem is his price tag, we're not a club who's paying 30 mill for a player to sit on the bench, so we're forced to play him out of position. There's no way he starts in front of mateta due to the physical attributes of mateta.

We've been rumored to have been looking at him for a while but he was on his way to forest before they pulled out of the deal, so it was just another panic buy from the club.

I for one haven't written him off yet.

But for Glenn Murray and his 30 goals we almost certainly wouldn't have been promoted in season 2012/2013. However, in the his first season with us in 11/12 he scored a meagre 6 goals in the league and was often only on the subs bench in the 2nd half of the season.

Players don't always click immediately.

This bloke is no Glen Murray and all the arsenal fans I know can't believe they got that much for a very average player.
That's my point ... the Glenn Murray we remember is the Glenn Murray from our promotion winning season, not from the season before when he was ineffective.

Whether Nketiah will come good or not none of us really know, but I'm not giving up on him yet.
