Given our injury/AFCON situation feel we haven’t got personnel to play OG preferred system maybe it’s time to stop putting square pegs in round holes Eddie not a 10 and either him or Pino play up top with mateta play back 4 with canvot Richards max and MG . Lerma and Wharton with pino and tyrick on flanks and two up top Might be harder to break down and hope to nick it ?

All well and good, you mentioned no square pegs in round holes then gonna to suggest a flat back 4 made up of all centre backs, a left back in midfield and possibly a winger up front

The system is what has led to our success more than anything. That’s not to say we should never experiment, or that there aren’t games where we can do something else.

You may be right that this is exactly the time where we might benefit from a different shape. Purely down to the absences of Munoz and Sarr. Just to get us through three or four busy weeks where we won’t have our first string, it might well suit to change things round.

Supposedly this isn’t actually Glasner’s most preferred system, it’s just the one he identified best fitting us when he came in.

I’ve also been wondering for a while how JP and Eddie would get on as a front-two. Could be a great pairing in there.

Glasner’s tactical style at Eintracht Frankfurt followed the approach of Hutter but with minor adjustments to a 3-4-2-1 formation.
Eintracht Frankfurt had already found success using this formation under previous coach Hutter but Glasner has made it even more flexible by switching between 3-4-2-1, 3-4-1-2, 3-4-3 etc.
The constant was a back 3.

I would say he has been right in basically sticking with that too. He’ll do what he will do and I trust him regardless.

If we were to make a more significant change in play I wouldn’t see it being for any longer period, and it’s only down to specific circumstances, missing players and not currently having a lot of backup.

The back-three has and does work in my mind, but it relies on the wingbacks to play to it’s strengths, and, well done to Clyney for stepping up when we have needed him, but I’m under no illusion that he’s in any way on a par with Munoz.

JP is obviously struggling after having been in great form at the start of the season. We put so so much on a plate for him at the moment and he’s wasting a lot of it. He will get back to his best, it’s injury that has knocked him. Maybe in a short time though, two up top might help him with his turnaround.

It’s all just spitballing. I doubt we’ll get to see it to find out anyway, but the circumstances maybe are there if we wanted to.

OG should try something different, as the current iteration isn't working for him. We need to see another side to his tactical nous. At the moment it's very one dimensional, right down to the substitutions.
