2025 FA Cup Final thread

Someone has got the BBC end credits up, a really beautiful montage of our day, cup run and cup final history. Sure I've heard the song somewhere before recently ...

Ooof - I was actually chopping onions when I watched this, but would have resulted in the same effect even if I hadn't been!

In terms of football spectacles, no one has ever played a more exciting game of football than that semi final against Liverpool. However biased that is, I'm dying on that hill.
For sheer drama that game takes it. Particularly after the Mickey Mousers had scuffed in their 9 lucky goals earlier in the season and were about as unbeatable as anyone has ever been.
Odd to think Gary O'Reilly only scored 2 for Palace - in that game and in the final.

I think that the best that we could hope for that day was to give a good account of ourselves. I was on the Holt and can remember when they had come back to lead 3-2, everyone was singing "We're proud of you" because we had given everything.

And then we beat the buggers .

And strange people ask "Why do you support Palace?". This. This is why.

Remember getting a coin in the skull when the 4th went in. I was half way up the Holte next to the fence - the abuse was awesome lol

Has there ever been a more fortunate player than Schlupp?

I read this morning that he has been awarded an FA Cup medal because of a 13 minute appearance v Stockport.

This on top of a Premier League medal for Leicester a decade ago in a season when he made just 4 appearances.

Nice work if you can get it, but good luck to him.

Well he was a pivotal player in the previous few seasons helping us become a regular PL team so I think he deserves it.

City fans are just getting angrier about the Hendo moment. The forum is a joy to behold 😀
There in meltdown, conspiracy theories all sorts.

I know I am biased but watching it back Hendo gets back into his area, I genuinely think he believes he is fine when swiping the ball. Haaland may have controlled the ball and scored but not certain and potentially defenders coming back. Anyway up the palace and we won the cup

Watched the full 90 minutes AGAIN last night. Phew, getting a little less nervous going into extra time each viewing!

What a team goal it was to win it! Henderson to Guehi, to Lacroix, to Richards, to Mateta, to Kamada, to Mateta, to Munoz to Eze.....Goal!!!!

That's 8 of our on field 11 involved in the move. Someone should have a word with Mitchell, Wharton and Sarr - slackers!

It's not quite in the same league as the 21 passes leading to the Eze winning goal at Liverpool last season. But it was worthy goal to seal perhaps our greatest win ever.

Can't wait for tonight!

What is great about this is that it's a moment that aside from the goal that every neutral watching will always remember.

Or at least they will remember the aftermath of it. Because not one soul in the ground or outside the ground watching on TV saw it at the time apart from the forensic video scientist who spotted it in super slow mo.

It will be cup final that sticks in the national footballing consciousness for decades provoking opinion and debate.

My last word on it is that the game had been going on a long time while they looked at it. So while the pundits were united in a belief that Haalands next touch, had Dean not touched it, would have presented him a goal scoring opportunity. It is equally likely, in my opinion, that he would have had a heavy touch and not be in a position to score before the defenders got back. We will never know. And the VAR team didn't know and after so many minutes it was right they had to give up trying to work out the odds of what would have happened and decide not overturn the referees (non) decision at the time.

I read their forum a couple of days ago. What they are really fed up with is Pep's team selection and tactics. He got it wrong as he did in last year's final trying to be too clever. I don't think he played a proper holding midfielder.

Anyway their fans are just looking for excuses.

Rodri has not featured since September last year.
Nico Gonzalez who is another 'Holding' midfielder was on the bench but did not feature. He has not played that many games this season following his £50 Mill move from Porto. He is no stranger to yellow cards.

So he's a Will Hughes wannabe? No chance.
