2025 FA Cup Final thread

Just watched full game back on youtube. Boy did Chris Richards have a great game yesterday! I didn't appreciate it whilst at the game but the number of headers he won, tackles and blocks he made was phenomenal.

I and many others will carry happy memories of yesterday with me forever. Thanks to the players, staff, the club and my fellow supporters.
I've just watched the game in full and for me Richards was MOTM, outstanding in the heart of defence time and time again.

on a purely personal note I didn't even bother applying for a Final ticket as I'm only a silver member, but with 84,000 there there was room for me! Season ticket holders didn't get an extra ticket this time that's how I got to the last one. And I was hungover yesterday so instead of bedecking myself in red and blue and celebrating with the mob in the pub, I stayed home in civilian clothes and nursed my headache watching it on TV, and good old ITV do the hour delay. One poster said if you're Palace you're part of it so I'll take solace from that. Too lazy and tight-fisted to celebrate at Selhurst on Tuesday, but with one of my two Palace ambitions now achieved I can fulfil the next one next season on the continent.

It’s like a double whammy, not only winning the fa cup, but qualifying for Europe as well. I’m the same as you, FA Cup and to play in Europe is all I’ve ever wanted, so it makes yesterday even more special, a gaurenteed four European nights at selhurst next season, can’t wait for the draw

Appreciate your comments and no offence was meant. But there was no doubt that pep looked in awe of the noise and atmosphere we created. I had multiple noise alerts on my watch warning me of the excessive noise.

It really doesn’t help you guys when your centre forward says even if you win the cup it’s been a dreadful season. If that’s true then you guys really have been spoilt and maybe if we won the lottery and did half of what you guys have done we would be too but right now that win means more than words can say and we really didn’t buy it. We have come from nothing and built something very special. We may never do it again but we did it right once.
We've definitely been spoilt. For me this season isn't bad because of not winning anything, it's more the football that's been played and the "effort" from some of the players.

I guess you just have to cast your mind back to before the Saudis took over and remember how good you’ve had it the past decade or so. It should always be a privilege to win something. Pep is without question a great manager, but ask yourself this, what could he do with no funds in 18 months. Then look at what Glasner has achieved.

Also something that grates at people (me included) is when pep and Diaz slag off Southampton and to a certain extent us for defending for much of the game and shutting up shop. Only a fool or Liverpool/madrid/arsenal/PSG etc would want to go toe to toe with you guys. We tried that and ended up with our arses handed to us last month. It wasn’t pretty yesterday but it was effective and with Lady Luck on our side we pulled it off.

I’m sure you will be back on track next year maybe a year with no trophy will make you appreciate things again.

I genuinely don't care about whether Henderson could have been sent off. Every other decision went their way. They just want excuses.
We have enough decisions go against us every season, that when one goes for us we should just take it.
I watched an independent youtuber who said Henderson should have been off and the penalty was a clear error, both of which I concur with
The interesting point he highlighted was that de Bruyne made three fouls that deserved yellow cards and only got booked once. They had 5 yellows, all, I believe, for stopping us counter-attacking so, combined, with their boring approach they tried to destroy it as a spectacle. Gotta say all the City supporters I heard took it really well

Why people are still discussing the Henderson handball I don't know. We won end of. Enjoy it.

Why people are claiming it should have been a red card is equally puzzling.

The ref and assistant obviously couldn't see if his hand was outside the box. VAR decided rightly that Haarland was running at an angle away from goal and that defenders running back would have covered.

If an infringement had been awarded on the field, it should have been a free kick and yellow card.

Irony alert

Absolutely agree. Some clubs have managers who are able to impose their tactics on the opposition almost at will while the rest of us have to find a way to counter those tactics and OG found a way.
Pep is obviously and patently very good but personally I find his tippy tappy side to side football arse achingly boring.

Agree with this completely. Pep's moaning was really empty given the cynicism of City's tactics to prevent us from breaking with a full complement of players. Almost every time they took someone out - De Bruyne should equally have had a red card (though I would hate for such a class player to have been sent off at the end of his City career). But Hendo should have walked too.

A handball offence is judged by the position of the ball when it's touched by the hand, so even though Henderson was stood inside the area, he touched the ball when it was outside. The assistant didn't spot that the ball was outside the area, so there was no free kick given, and the VAR cannot intervene just on this basis alone.

A goalkeeper handling outside the area isn't in itself a sanctionable offence. Whether there should be a yellow or red card, or no action, is determined by the impact on the attacking team. You don't get sent off for handball, but for the effect.

In VAR terms, Gillett can only get involved if he thinks there should be a red card for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity (DOGSO).
It was decided that as the ball was going away from goal, there was only the possibility of a scoring chance rather than it being obvious.
