What's the point of Wharton?

Both Thursday and today, Adam seems to offer very little. Always in space and can be relied on for the odd touch (but rarely more than one) and he does nothing to break up the opposition. Not interested in tackling and seems far less committed to work than our other 10 on the pitch who put in a shift.
Am I wrong?
Seriously? Go back to the clowns.

Not sure I have ever read anything quite so ridiculous on this message board, and that is saying an awful lot.

Absolutely. Should release him tomorrow.

I thought exactly that at wembley when he ran the show in the semi v villa, broke up wave after wave of city attacks in the final and had the calmness on the ball to turn the game in our favour and the vision to set up sarr against l'pool in the comm shield!!

If any scouts of other clubs are reading this I completely agree. It scouts aren’t reading this I have a different opinion

He's absurdly good and should be in England's midfield three at the World Cup.

He does appear to jog round the pitch a bit, especially when partnered with Hughes who runs round like a maniac, but I believe this is intelligent positioning and reading the game well rather than laziness.

Wasn't his best today but, with Eze gone, he's our best hope for advancing the ball this season.

We all see the game differently, I’ve seen people question many players over the years.
I’d just add you and I see Wharton differently. Next summer he will be headed to Madrid or some other massive club. His vision is incredible. Goals etc will come later

Earlier today in the match thread I confessed to knowing f*** all about football, not really, not compared to say our very successful manager.

However, once in awhile somebody comes along that makes me feel like the Yoda of the football world, a genius if you will. Wise and all knowing. The heading of this thread is today’s case in point. Genius and made me actually laugh.

I was going to put something like… what does he do? You mean other than see passes as quick as anybody around and makes things look effortless at 21 years old… but I thought what’s the point and carried on banging my head against the wall about our transfer strategy.

You've just copied Tuchel's cover letter.

Sounds like irony to me !!!!!

"Hi everyone, I don't have a clue about football, I think it's about running and I reckon that Mo Farah would've been a great player"

Consider him (and whoever he's playing alongside in midfield) as the hub of a wheel, holding it all together - the ball comes in to him and he uses it with efficiency, finding runners around him. I'm not comparing him with the great Pirlo, but the idea is the same, he has an accurate passing range and can find space and team mates with the ball.
