Legendary TV Commentary

Mentioned it before but Alan Smith once referred to a player having "feet like paintbrushes". Imagine he meant he's an artist but otherwise it sounds a distinct disadvantage for a footballer.
When Scott Fitzgerald played for Wimbledon he booted someone up in the air and Jonathan Pearce said - "there was nothing gentle is the night about that tackle".
Not in commentary but Dickie Davies introduced "results from the Cop Sucker".

For those watching in Black & White, the pink is next to the green -

They think its all over, it is now.

"I do not think there is a better atmosphere in the Premier League.
(Apparently that one was radio commentary)

"The bowler's Holding. The batsman's Willey".

Harry Carpenter at the Oxford-Cambridge boat race 1977 - 'Ah, isn't that nice. The wife of the Cambridge President is kissing the Cox of the Oxford crew.'
Even better than the delivery of that classic line was the infectious fit of the giggles that overtook all of the commentators as they realised what had been said. Took Brian several minutes before he could carry on.....

Reminded me of Johnathon Agnew describing a Botham dismissal; "he couldn't quite get his leg over".

Any football match called by Jonathan Pearce.

The 1990 final highlights is on the club website and I watched it the other day. One or two sparkling lines that I can't recall right now, but his delivery in general is brilliant imo.

1st time I met him was a home game v Coventry, think we lost 0-3. Their gk was Magnus Hedman, a good friend, as he lived in Northampton as I did at the time. Anyhow, Magnus came over to chat in the players lounge, the JP also came over & tried to do an interview, but Magnus said, not now I'm chatting to a friend. JP was brill, just chatted with us.

I recall Magnus Hedman who was at Coventry at the same time as Richard Shaw and Marc Edworthy.
He was as tall as a hop pole, well 'North' of 6ft.
I believe Mourinho signed him for Chelsea.
