The Sporting Department is well-structured.Let's hope our existing infrastructure means he can do a good job.
Who's in pole position for the 'Director of Football' role?Being reported that the fella from West Ham is in pole position for Dougie's role. Yep, West Ham - worst recruitment in the Premier League, along wiith Man U.
Good to hear !Mark Noble? Doubt he'd come to Palace. He's a Hammer for life.
From what I have read, heard and been told by people that know more than I do about it Freedman was only the guy that signed off on the target and negotiated the contract on the club's behalf. The team that identify the player, carry out due diligence, find out about his character, family, etc to make sure he fits into our culture and looks into sell on value and future potential are all still very much employed by the club.Being reported that the fella from West Ham is in pole position for Dougie's role. We dont need an oracle with a genius football brain (as Simon Jordan would have everyone believe).
We just need a front man that can negotiate a good contract (for both parties) and get a deal done.
Who knows? We might actually see some players signed nice and early with less dicking around.
Typical click bait. The article I read said he was being considered (by who) but then said Palace would not be recruiting him. In other words they just floated his name and then said he wouldn't be coming to Palace. The people who told you this are incorrect.
Tim Steidten may be the former West Ham person others was referring to not Noble
I did see him in Sainsbury’s yesterdayWill we sign Nugent now?
Working there or cheap in the past his sell-by section?I did see him in Sainsbury’s yesterday
So the players are sourced by people still in situ, the terms are negotiated by agents and lawyers, and the final decision is made by the Board...From what I have read, heard and been told by people that know more than I do about it Freedman was only the guy that signed off on the target and negotiated the contract on the club's behalf. Presumably there are two alternative ways this structure has workedSo the players are sourced by people still in situ, the terms are negotiated by agents and lawyers, and the final decision is made by the Board...
If Dougie has morphed into the pointy end of a bloody big sword (as opposed to the one man band I suspect he was when we came up) then any decent experienced front man would fill the role well.
Presumably there are two alternative ways this structure has worked
(1) the team on the ground identify a lot of potential players and Dougie uses his skill and experience to sift out the main targets, in which case we will miss him, or
(2) the team do all the work and present a small number of targets for Dougie to get to the signing stage, in which case we will miss him less.
No idea which has been the case
Ha, Ok then. You believe what you wish. I'd rather stick with the reliable sources of information that has always turned out to be true than (no offence) some bloke I've never met telling me its incorrect. The people who told you this are incorrect.

This is exactly what I have been told yes. We have evolved our operation off the pitch as well as on it.So the players are sourced by people still in situ, the terms are negotiated by agents and lawyers, and the final decision is made by the Board...
