I have been tee-total for 24 years and have tried a lot of the beers/ales.

In first place for me is Adnam's Ghost Ship. It's a grapefruity IPA (god I sound like a ponce). Brooklyn Special Effects and Brewdog Nanny State taste quite similar so are effectively joint first. These are all 0.5% though.

I enjoy Erdinger but that's a bit of a bloater. Also 0.5%

The best true 0% in my humble opinion is probably Cobra, which I discovered at my mate's Indian Takeaway.

When you go into the 0% lagers they are often quite watery. Not so bad if you've not touched beer/lager for some time, but a regular beer drinker would probably find them a bit weak tasting.

There has never been a time when there was as much choice if you are looking for good, drinkable options.

When I was ordered off alcohol for 6 months many years ago, I drank a German nil-alcohol beer, Bitburger, and almost persuaded myself that I liked it. I think what I liked was the classy label on the bottles, the name in Gothic script, and their strapline tucked away on the label in imitation hand-writing "Bitte ein Bit". I decided to use the phrase if I ever went to Germany, but I never went.

One aspect of these beers that I was not aware of was the high sugar content. The Leffe 0%, which I think is very good, has a very high sugar content compared with other low alcohol beers. Not a reason to ignore it, but just be mindful of the fact.

I gave up alcohol just over 3 years ago. For me the best non alcoholic beer I’ve found is Victoria 0.0, unfortunately it’s brewed (is that the right word) in Malaga, I’ve never found it on sale in the UK. Best for me here is Becks Blue or Heineken zero.

I've always wondered do they just make the normal beer and take out the alcohol, or do they make 0% stuff. I presume the easiest is removing the alcohol by freezing or heating. Which kind of explains the stupid prices. I find it quite ironic that it's the same price in the pub as normal beer. That's what it's like here in Ireland anyway. I feel there should be an incentive if they want us to drink it.

To my surprise Cruz Campo is not bad for one of those lagers they claim is Spanish but isn’t at all, is brewed in Burton On Trent and invented for Britain.
Brewed under licence is just a flaw in getting decent drinks with heritage, Old Speckled Hen when it was brewed in Oxfordshire was one of my favourite, unrecognisable now.
