...the clearance but he celebrated like it was a brilliant finish. Ref was poor, as has been mentioned multiple times, the foul and booking of Wharton was simply bizarre, a perfect tackle. Also soon after Eddie was free in the centre after an Everton player lost possession and the player seemed...

The fewer Palace players in the shop window during internationals and getting injured the more I like life let the "big time charlie" clubs supply the international squads. My favourite phrase is Wharton who?

...on public pressure. Sure I disagree with his choices - but we've said many times that managers shouldn't shoehorn the best 11 onto the pitch. I do find it surprising that now Whartons available he's not 'having a look', this far away from a tournament, but perhaps there's other things going on.

The team looked tired after a late night Thursday/early morning Friday return from Poland then travelling to Liverpool on Saturday afternoon. So far only Guehi, Henderson, Mateta, Devenny and Sarr are on World Cup duty and required to attend if called up. Kamada, Lerma, Munoz and Richards can be...

...with. Pino already looks like he’s been with us for a while as he’s settled in seamlessly with lots of clever movement and endeavour. Wharton looked like a Rolls Royce player with his control and weight of pass. I’m not too concerned about Mateta’s touch in front of goal deserting him in...

Pretty much spot on. I might have given Kamada 7 for his first half performance but accept he dropped off second half. Pino might be a 7 for similar reasons, but Mateta’s 4 lost the game for us.

Seeing that Salisbury was born near Preston, I was wondering if he had something against Wharton and Blackburn? As you mention, to constantly single out a player for supposed misdemeanours is very odd indeed.

...hurt and as he said sometimes you need to feel that to learn and we will. However I still maintain the ref was awful. He gave them every 50/50 and on a couple of occasions he gave them the 70/30s that should clearly have been our free kick. He absolutely had a bee in his bonnet for Wharton too.

Despite the referee penalising his every tackle and not penalising them every time they threw him to the ground

Pretty fair summary. We are adjusting to a new thing, Thursday European games. We were the better team but sometimes that doesn't get the result, remember our smash and grab at Brighton. When we get enough points for top 8 in Conference league we can rest and rotate so IMHO we need to get this...

We need our midfielders to score. According to the stats on the tab above Wharton, Kamada, Lerma and Hughes have scored 2 in 297 games between them.

First 70 mins today was as good as first half vs the much better other scousers . Wharton and kamada ran the show. Then they both got tired. We missed some great chances. We were miles better than our bogey team. It was a great game. Onto the next one. We will definitely need reinforcements in...

However, as the second half progressed our performance levels dropped off significantly. Some of this can be...

TBF Ithought it was a penalty. However there was something very odd about how he constantly penalised Wharton. Read his WIKI are we really that short of refs that he has not been sacked? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Salisbury

You could argue it was the ref that cost us giving that iffy pen for a start and Grealish should have been sent off with a second yellow card.

...wasn’t all that bad. They came out aggressively in the second half and robbed a win, but our defence play was pretty solid Kamada and Wharton were both excellent. In a pub after the game an Everton fan said we had battered them and we did. All the compliments from their fans doesn’t help...
