...at the top, that’s why Devenny with less flair is making it. It’s why Eze and Olise bounced back from being dropped to the lower leagues. Wharton has a strong mentally. We have heard about and seen many talents fail due to mindset, With Esse I strongly feel a lot of time will be needed to see...

...Pino, Uche, Esse struggled moreso than most. JP marked out the game for the majority of it. We lacked a calmness in midfield - really missed Wharton. Thank Christ for Hughes and Kamada - the latter being clear motm imo. Jaydee did well enough at the back - looks a good player. Stream dropped...

...and strength, needs time. Both Yeremy and Uche need time to realise you can tackle in England, Yeremy has a real presence about him and like Sarr by the end of the season he will be a star. On to West Ham with hopefully the creativity of Wharton and Nketiah as an option when mateta gets tired

The sooner we get Sarr, Wharton and Nketiah back the better. We need the craft of Wharton, the pace and drive of Sarr and JPM needs Nketiah available to ease the workload. We've laboured in our home games this season. The new players will need time to settle.

    Farewell Eze?

Ummm except Eze is a 10?

Kamada is NOT having a good game. He's passed backwards a lot and his forward distribution and through balls have been terrible. Just because he's had a lot of ball doesn't mean he's playing well. Wharton would've set JP up twice already.

I expect Richards will be rested due to the extra travel in international break

Thankfully. Mateta is gassed after 70 mins. He rarely did the full 90 last season and has had to do them all this season.

Glasner confirmed that Benitez and Canvot will start. I would think that either Richards or Guehi will be rested. Glasner also said Wharton and Nketiah will be back for the weekend.

I think all would admit it. But we were also without Wharton and Sarr who would have made a (the) difference. That being said its been a very promising start for Pino

I was concentrating on the cutting edge to cut through a stubborn Roy like defensive unit, i know the other two are very valuable to our efforts.

Yes we did but Sarr and Wharton would have made the a big difference. Must say I think Xhaka was a brilliant signing for Sunderland, he seemed more of a coach on Saturday

Without Eze, we have to be precise - almost pinpoint accurate with runs and passes. We're not there yet. Add in Wharton and his couple of worldy passes a game and replace him with Lerma and again you see we would have to be entirely accurate. We're not. What Olly did was get it upfield faster...

Kamada and Wharton are the first choice pairing

100%. Surely Devenny only came on because he knows the system etc. In a couple of weeks we'll have a much more exciting attacking unit.

Not sure Hughes is first choice. Kamada was preferred in the semi final, final and community shield.

At the business end, players who were integral and practiced in OG's tactical approach were out, Eze gone, and Sarr injured. Add Wharton into the mix and the newcomers will clearly take a few games to get fully up to speed, but from what we've seen things will be just fine.

I think this is fair comment, but the true assessment can be made in a few weeks, when hopefully Wharton, Sarr and Nketiah return and Pino and Uche have had more time with the squad and set up. Hopefully we'll have plenty of options and will not have to rely on Devenny and Kamada being played...

Consensus on BBC London was that the ref had a shocker through overtly whistle-happy behaviour that prevented the game from flowing.

...improved second half. In another day we would have scored one of those chances. The 2 new signings did pretty well and given that Sarr and Wharton were missing it feels like our squad depth has improved and that we have more options tactically. In terms of breaking down teams that come to...
