The window more broadly

Not beyond the bounds of possibility in this crazy world but maybe we will make an approach to Charlotte FC for a certain W. Zaha .. he maybe has one year of legs good enough for the Premier League and he perhaps deserves one last hurrah seeing as he was mostly responsible for keeping us in the PL over the years.

PLEEEAAASSSSEEE turn the record over.

Just catching up with some transfer news and saw that Wolves rejected a bid of £50m for Jorgen Strand Larsen

Mind blown.

The window more broadly. Eye watering transfer fees even for relatively obscure players. I am not surprised that Mr Parish has cold sweats at the prospect of seriously backing the manager on the transfer market lol

Everton just signed Tyler Dibling for £40m. That is some serious outlay on a 19 year old. But that's the market we are completing in.

Sky started this insanity. Now we have Sky, TNT, Prime….more and more money for the big clubs.
That money is not going to be around much longer. Sky already saying they will not be able to even match there previous bid for the premier league. I have a spanish service that costs £35 per month for every single bit of sport, movie, tv and music. Accessed same as a sky or virgin box. Why would somebody continue to pay £100 per month plus and sky still charge a premium for HD content.

Another couple of years and the bottom will fall out of the prem.

Plus who isn’t sick of the woke inclusive presenters forced on us. No thanks.

Now before I start, I know we have (so far) made a bare minimum of signings, and am well aware Glasner wanted bodies in early.

But things do feel a bit a little different/harder in this window.

The big teams have spent big, as usual. City and Chelsea in particular getting most business done early. But then looking across the rest of the league

Promoted sides – have all brought in lots of c.10m players, but no idea if they will improve the them. Sunderland have gone a little bigger.

Then you’ve had Glasner, Silva, Moyes, Howe, Nuno all admitting that they are struggling with squad size and/or too passive etc.

Bournemouth and Brentford have been decimated.

Prices being paid for average players feels well out of kilter.

Not new themes, but broadly it feels much worse/harder than usual
I knew it, you are Steve Parish. 🤣

Yep those buys stink of a manager saying "I dont care if its 10m too much, I need bodies". Hutchinson is particularly mental, cost 20m last summer. 3 goals and 2 assists later sold for almost double.

Purely rational, but now is a time to stay calm and pick up players for the right price at the end of the window.
Agree, the Hutchinson deal is bonkers.

Shall we give Parish a stay of Execution until the window shuts, then if needed, its Kipper time.

Spare a thought for Brendan Rodgers. Celtic took £38 million from prize money for getting to the last sixteen of the Champions League last season, plus all the match day earnings. This summer they sold 3 of their better players for £24 million. So far they’ve spent £4 million on incoming players and have just been knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers by a team from Kazakhstan!

A team from Kazakhstan missing a few first team players as well. Poor old Brenda had better rent a safe room with Russell Martin cos Glesga doesnae belong to them at the moment.

I think both boards are getting the fans’ wrath- Celtic’s for being tight fisted and Rangers’ for appointing the worst manager in last years Premier League!
