Crystal Palace vs. Fredrikstad match thread

But Parish said we don’t need many players…

I agree I think yet again in the history of Crystal Palace we seem scared of success….instead of pushing on from this position we gradually fall backwards.

breaking into the top six takes megabucks. It cost Leeds at least a dozen years down in the wilderness, after they went bust.

Feeling flat after that game. Perhaps I was looking forward to it too much and expecting us to win by 3 or 4 goals. Surprised by lack of substitutions in the second half and then the one that does come on is Edouard leaving Esse and Rak Saki on the bench - strange? Thought our build up play was too slow and final ball as well as shots were so poor. I’m surprised we even got one goal. Let’s hope we don’t blow the second leg?

No that would disrupt the culture completely. 2/3 more is perfect for me. An top notch Eze replacement, another CB to challenge for a start and another solid all-rond squad player.

I’d settle for that sprites!

My opinion will never reflect reality however, I like to be pessimistic and full of despair, if not just to tempt fate by looking ridiculous.

Our lack of numbers let alone quality now is concerning however. I get the feeling OG is not a happy camper at all.

needed one or two more goals, away on velcro won't be easy. Hope it's not a case of "Kenny Sansom, Ronnie Corbett, Nookie Bear, Vince Hilaire" your boys took one hell of a beating.
I wonder when our last competitive match on artificial grass was? The only one I can remember does not inspire confidence - it was the 1-1 draw at Luton as we slid to relegation in 1992.

Totally, he's clearly disgruntled. But there's still time to get the right players in to help us.
I can foresee us getting the three we need. The question is whether they are good enough to challenge what is a decent first 11, or squad depth.

PS. What's the latest on Doucoure/Riad?

I am afraid how ever professional the players normally are - they were definitely affected by the loss of Eze last night - in fact - we all were!

Even the normally upbeat Manager had a constant frown on his face! It just didn’t feel right yesterday. We were all desperate to say our goodbyes to Eze, and that never materialised.

There was one positive - and this probably should be debated on another thread, but I thought Sosa was a big upgrade on Mitchell. He can actually take a throw, provides lots of crosses and was energetic going forward.

It would appear Oliver Glasner is not best pleased with how events have unfolded since that momentous FA Cup victory and perhaps his departure is sooner than many believe.
Perhaps he will hold a placard aloft with the words "I am a talented ambitious football manager, get me outta here"!

Who said top 6 ? That’s unrealistic but to finnish in the top half of the table would be progress ….maybe 8th. However that looks unlikely the league is stronger this season and we are not.

Steve Parish expressed a desire to finish in the top 10. This seems highly unlikely at this juncture given the impending departures of key players, the inactivity in the transfer market and a clearly disgruntled manager. The euphoria of the FA Cup victory has been replaced by alarm and despondency.

I sure Glasner did his due diligence before he signed up for the manager's role and knew the history of Parish and previous managers. The thing is Glasner is his own man and has high standards. Can Parish keep up?

Relegation beckons again (and again and again) for Willo !

Perhaps the expectation has not matched the reality.
He asserted he was "Promised" signings early in the window and I don't believe had 2 backups in the forefront of his mind!

Surely the club will have already scouted out players they covet even if they haven't signed them, so that part of the process you'd hope would be done. We now have a short window to start trying to pick those players up. I know we are a club that values staying out of debt as much as possible, but I am hopeful that the shopping spree will take place to keep the team competitive and the manager happy. Mobilise today please Palace!
