Crystal Palace vs. Fredrikstad match thread

It’s nothing to do with creativity. OG knows how he wants the team to play and he needs them to all play that way. If Esse ignores these instructions then he is of no use to OG.
which was probably why he got subbed after coming on as a sub in the final game at Anfield. When asked why he subbed Esse, OG said that Esse knew exactly why.

Well at least we have a buffer for the return leg. On an artificial surface we should be able to move the ball quicker upping the tempo and as they have to come forward hopefully gaps will appear.

Glasner's post match interview was instructive.
He said he had 2 players on the bench who have been told to leave the club, that Guehi has to stay at least for the next two games, that we missed the 11pm deadline for registering any new players for the return leg.
That was followed by a Parish interview who gave no reassurances about Guehi.

In the words of the song I see trouble ahead.

Doesn't give him much opportunity to show he's learned his lesson though.
Perhaps he still hasn't shown it in training.

OG's success is based around every player knowing what their job is in any situation. Whilst there is room for creativity in the right areas of the pitch, players who do the wrong things in the wrong areas will get short shrift from the manager and I suspect Esse may fall into that category. He needs to show he can be trusted to work within the system before being given licence to try things.

Just my opinion.

I’m guessing based on the bench players, that is 2 out of Esse, JRS and Edouard, but given he actually put Edouard on the pitch it could be the two young lads.

There is definitely some tension and I can’t see Glasner lasting much longer. Despite our success the club is a bit of a s*** show at the moment.

Parish shouldn't be doing interviews...

the Glasner post match (not the one on 5)… man is not happy not happy at all. I can honestly see him walking. He said he had 16 players to use and 2 of those have been told they can leave.

Seriously there is trouble ahead. Called out that business has been dreadful.

i fear a Tony Pulis moment. Glasner is hot property, and Autumn is a time of change.

But Parish said we don’t need many players…

I agree I think yet again in the history of Crystal Palace we seem scared of success….instead of pushing on from this position we gradually fall backwards.

I can’t see Glasner being prepared to accept this for long…..let’s face the music and dance.

Agreed and some of the BBC reporting post match highlights the straw that may break the camel's back. I very much hope I am wrong.

Glasner:
"We have to [keep hold of Guehi], especially for the second leg. No injured player will come back and we cannot register anyone so we have to keep him. We already rested Chris Richards and Ty Mitchell who had small problems. There is no other chance than keeping Marc for these games. He knows it, everybody knows it. If we want to compete in all of these competitions we need players, that is pretty clear."

Parish:
"If Marc wants to sign a contract then he can stay!

"It is a difficult situation. If you are in Europe the financial rules are a lot tighter than in the Premier League.

"Players leaving on a free is not ideal. We will have to look at it over the next 11 days."
