Are we bang in trouble?

I must admit to being a bit worried but also can understand that there is currently no Freedman replacement and Parish has been distracted by having to invest so much time in the UEFA issue.

There is also the point that we have Riad, Doucoure, Nketiah and Franca injured. By October or November at least a couple of them should be able to play a part. A fit Doucoure will make a big positive difference and I think Nketiah could still be very good for us. Riad and Franca I am not sure about.

I think it's with the injured players in mind that Glasner has said he needs two players. Obviously if Eze and/or Guehi go then we need to replace them also. However, can see Davenny having a larger role this season (think potentially he is excellent).

But what would help is to be 'thrown a freakin bone'. Some sort of news that we are in talks with x player or have an agreed a fee. At the moment there is nothing but Guehi to Liverpool and Eze potentially to Arsenal or Spurs. They also really need to replace Freedman though I guess that will not happen until after the transfer window shuts.
Having the very real prospect that our captain is off and because I was bored at my desk, I asked ChatGPT who would be a top defender in Europe who would likely be available for under £30 million that is used to playing in a back 3… it spat out Riad as the 2nd choice under… MG (at no point had I mentioned any Palace connections) there were others I’d not heard of.

Let’s hope it is right and Riad does for MG what Max did for Anderson last year and also hope that if Eze goes that Esse does what Sarr did filling the void left by Olise.

Surely we won't sell Mateta as well as Eze and MG.

I could handle just about mg and Eze, but our goalscorer too.
Easy solution, they're pretty thick in Geordie land (sorry mam) but, if we shave Edouards hair & beard off & get JP to grow his a bit, they wouldn't notice the difference till they play him & by then it'll be too late.

NB: This is not a post about racially profiling, its on a football forum as tongue in cheek. Feel free to remove mods if you feel it's not befitting.

We have 5 games in a 14 day period between 17 August to 31st August , including tricky sounding games v Chelsea (a), Forest(h) and Villa (a).

I can’t see how we are in a position to sell Guehi and Eze until the end of the window.

We haven’t got a squad to cope with that level of intensity over such a short period, particularly taking into account current and possibly new injuries.

We may bring one or two in, but can it’s not reallly fair to throw them straight in before they know our players, our manager and our system.

I’m not looking to apportion blame, merely stating the facts which are surely beyond dispute.

Riad is potentially excellent. Hopefully will recover from injury and show us what he can do

Can somebody please explain why and how we have no money for transfers? Seriously. We have been in the top flight over a decade now… where’s the loot gone. I know SP likes a suit but f*** me how are we skint?
Maybe, when he sold out his shareholding and has no further connection to the club, the former Director, Mr Textor, required the repayment of his Director's loans?

Exactly!

And we assume that Woody is not stumping up me Ch money. Of you listen to fans of his IS investments they do not have much positive to say.

Our ownership structure has cost us a fortune as it is so complex opaque and well basically dodgy.
