At 35m I'd say it's quite a risk. Wingers coming from the French League can be a bit boom or bust when coming to the prem. I'd say there's better value to be found (unfortunately I'd also have said the same with Nketiah). But look at what we paid for Sarr and that went well.

If we can find players with the attributes that Glasner wants I've got no doubt he'll help to improve them. I just hope we've got a list of targets... Because so far there doesn't seem much to suggest we have!

I agree that 35m is probably a bit steep for someone who may only be a sub, plus we'd lose both him and Sarr for AFCON. I had hoped we'd sign him, but he certainly doesn't look a sure thing from the clips I've watched, more a rough diamond.

Given he is versatile and can play across the front 3 he would have been excellent cover for Eze, Mateta and Sarr and pushing them individually for a start. I’m disappointed we didn’t get him and hope he doesn’t start smashing them in for Villa.

There was a rumour we only offered 1 or 2 million up front. Which sounded bizarre. Presumably, we were looking for maybe 10 installments plus some add ons. Break it down, it's not as bad.
My guess is Villa have paid maybe 20 mil up front. Just a guess.

According to numerous posters on here you can’t buy decent players for low sums any more and also according to numerous clickbait sites we are looking at paying £40m + for a centre half? So how much should we be spending?

Edit: I just checked Nketiah’s purchase cost £25m and estimated current value £18m. So that forward cover we paid big money for (who can only really play in one position) hasn’t gone particularly well for us. We kept playing him in the hope he would justify his value however to date he hasn’t. Now he is injured we could really do with a quality player who can cover the 3 positions.

I agree £35m is a lot, but worse players have sold for much more.

You should be signing any amount 1 to 50m if its value for money, with sell on value.

We never seem to have much joy from players costing us £20m+
