Tommy Robinson

That’s irrelevant.

If you break anti discrimination law by refusing service to someone in a specified category just because they are part of that category then you have no defence.

You might not be prosecuted, but simply warned, but deliberately repeating it would not be sensible.
Wisbech, you are skiing miles off-piste again.

the thread is about Tommy Robinson. "deliberately repeating" indeed.

The point is that the decision was theirs to make and not yours or mine or whether it was sensible. In fact it proved a PR disaster they undoubtedly now regret.
Staff felt uncomfortable serving them ie they didn’t like who it was ( can be no other reason as they were doing no wrong) therefore it would appear they acted illegally, that was my point and a point covered in the link I posted. PR disaster, hopefully yes. Outrageous possible illegal action, yes. No other reason than it was TR. I’m not sure I have stated it was anyone decision other than the restaurants.

The question is whether being a restaurant allows them to be discriminatory, other than in circumstances which are protected?

I believe pubs and restaurants are private, not public spaces, much like our own homes. So different rules apply.

If that’s true then just not liking Yaxley-Lennon would be enough, whereas throwing him out because he is gay, or disabled would be illegal.

Looks iike he stabbed someone at St.Pancras and has flown out of the country!

Surprising defo not.

😎
I don’t think the man was stabbed. More like punched and knocked out. It probably was Tommy Robinson but it might not have been. A bit stupid for him to react to provocation like that, because that’s what would have caused it. Think about it, he’s hardly likely to go out looking for trouble, is he? It’s usually one of your lot who like dishing it out but cry when it comes back at them.

Thos is clear propaganda and nonsense.

Stephen would not stab anyone, he would get someone else to do it for him..........

And as he lives outside the UK being ye true patriot he is, he was probably just going home anyway.

i reckon the days of TR leading thousands of people in marches are over. Surely The authorities ( & media & antifa & agents-provocateurs ) have effectively silenced him already ? He probably only lives cos a martyr would be stronger in death than alive.
TR may still continue his crusade online, but i predict him living out his days either in hiding or in Israel. The government may prefer him alive, but many radical islamists have already made their feelings clear.

Somebody new will probably spearhead TR's movement. There are surely thousands of candidates. And they will inevitably also be pilloried - a crucifixion in all but name.

TR must have always known that the stand he took was effectively a suicide-mission ?

Perhaps the issue here is actually also that this is a movement, he has pretty much never allied himself to a political party of politician.
He will not disappear he must have a love/hate relationship with the media as on the one hand he needs it to highlight the things he believes in but on the other it clearly has a huge intrusive effect on his life and lives of those around him.

I do not envy him in that fact. But assume this also maintains an income stream for him as he does not appear to be short of a bob or two.

He is a figurehead for a movement and right now that is a powerful one but I wonder how long that will continue outside politics
