Let's Hear it for Glastonbury

Exactly how I stand with it. I’ve got a pretty broad musical taste and every year I find stuff to watch since the beeb cover it all with a few clicks on my remote.
But this year is dreadful, hardly anyone I’ve heard of and when I have left someone on for a listen it’s been like listening to the foxes screaming outside in the middle of the night.
And surely the production of that Raye set just wasn’t very Glastonbury

You’ve got to laugh now though, festival season is one of the in things now, all the young girls and even older women parading their new festival outfits on social media, probably not interested in the music, it’s just the in thing and they have to look good in their designer wellies, denim shorts and floppy hats🤣
Go to a good rock festival. If you see any ladies looking fashionable and clean it's perfectly acceptable to slide tackle them two footed into a muddy puddle.

Come on Monkey. Isn't that what makes Glastonbury a bit special? The variety. Anyway, I enjoyed it.

Neil Young followed and he didn't gel with me though. I loved his stuff back in the day, but it all sounded a tad forced to me last night. No doubt some thought he was wonderful.

A few years ago Neil Young played at, I think, Brixton Academy and in his first set played the entirety of his new, possibly unreleased, album. The audience were getting a bit restless but he assured them in the second half he would play songs they knew. Then played the same set again.

Typical Neil Young. I saw him in Ontario, supported by Oasis, back in the 90's He was a bit more considerate to Canadians in his set list

Yes, but not so sure about the poppy big production stuff.

We agree on Neil Young, he’s never done it for me, even in his prime, I’d rather listen to Ashley Young 🤣

Frankly, to me, it sounded last night like he just sang exactly the same song over and over - I gave up after #3 as he isn't even good to look at.......... now that bloke in the sprayed on bodysuit earlier....🤩 what a mover!

I like Neil Young. He was OK last night but it should be highlighted that the likes of Young, Fogerty and Rod are around 80 years old.
Some of us will be glad just to still be alive at that age, let alone giving it some on stage.

Rod has been good so far. A lot of newer acts seriously lack personality.

I saw Rod Stewart at Glastonbury around 2002/2003 ish. I was watching him somewhat tongue in cheek but I have to say he was probably one of the top 5 acts I ever saw at Glasto. A lot of fun.

There have been some complaints about top stars demanding too much appearance money, however I don't blame them.

Glastonbury is no longer about the music, somebody is making a lot of money so why should a star drop their wages demands to enrich that person. It's no different to renting Wembley stadium, musicians are entitled to demand whatever they think they can get away with.
Rod Stewart PAID £300k for his set.
