Starmer..what a joke on the world stage

Lets get some perspective here. Imagine Starmer as......

- a football manager
- a pizza shop manager

- a schoolteacher
- an airline pilot

- a Butlins redcoat

- other.......

scary, isn't it ? I wouldn't let him manage a toll-free overflow car park.

How about a successful barrister..?

Then where do you suggest people look ?

Media in this country has always had a left or right bias. And we all know where the Express / Mail stand on political matters.

Anyway, back to the subject in hand. Although I'm no Lefty, I wished Starmer well after his election victory. After 14 years of the poorly performing Tories, a change was definitely much needed. I will add that I thought Starmer and Co were poor in Opposition. To my mind they got away with that because the Government were so unpopular.

But since he became PM, Starmer has been a huge disappointment. I don't think he's cut out for being a politician, much less a PM. I'm not going over what his Party have / have not done over the last 12 months, but his leadership to date is well below what is expected and needed by the country at the moment.

He's done okish with Trump, better than I thought he would actually. That's about it.

But I think Mel Stride hit the nail on the head with his comment to Rayner in yesterdays PMQ's. She's waiting in the wings, and she'll be making her move when she thinks the time is right. Could be as soon as next week....
I would tend to agree as a not just 'bit of a bleeding heart lefty liberal,' but one with a gold plated civil servant who allegedly spends days at home doing no work and eating cheese, I reckon Starmer is a huge disappointment. His policies collapse when challenged and he seems desperately to pander to the (supposedly) far right when it suits him.

He will bend to the agitators and probably not change PIP (which as it actually helps a lot of people stay in work Monday ghy not be a bad thing,) but will be booted out son enough.

Problem then is who next?

Ok some may say could not be worse but be careful what you wish for.

Right now politics is in flux and protest supported by social media has some power but can it last and run a country? Well for me the jury is out and right now they are all as bad as each other snuffling at the trough to their own petty ends

As much as I consider Starmer to be a weak man with no clear idea about what's best for the Country, and who is unable to control and manage his own party, the thought of Rayner possibly taking the reins of our government fills me with a feeling of unimaginable dread and foreboding.

Echo this, Starmer has taken the country to new lows in terms of global respect and domestic respect for the office of PM. I can't imagine what people would think if Rayner had the position, apart from some streetwise cunning she is totally unfit. Her son makes a living have live sex on onlyfans, she has the intellect of goldfish. That she is so influential that Starmer has to kowtow to her is an indictment of Labour. I could accept Streeting or Jarvis perhaps, the rest of the Cabinet are a nightmare.

I could say the similar for most of the previous Conservative cabinets but Labour have really lowered the bar. The pensions these grifters will get are eye watering

I agree with most of this.

I would replace the bold " right now " with , since the last election.

The last Government was terrible but Labour lowered the bar

so if the ginger tart takes over being PM, what sort of respect will she be shown, anywhere in the world??> F***ing joke

Because Johnson was such a statesman, and Farage is such a deal making diplomat lol

Good news, Starmer will remain PM and continue to steer us out of this mess that these whingers voted us into

Starmer is a pathetic joke, Lammy is a useless and pathetic Foreign Sec and Rayner is an embarrassment as Deputy PM.

Labour have broken so many Election campaign assurances and promises in such a short space of time and will not be able to deliver on others that were at the forefront of their manifesto. The Tories were inept, Reform are surging ahead in the polls but they don’t currently have enough credible and capable candidates with the required expertise…however, Labour are plumbing new depths of shite governance, reneging on promises and are a just total laughing stock. They are sh*tting themselves now that they are actually in power, as the reality dawns on them that they are way out of their depth and don’t know what to do.

you have a short memory - what damage has Brexit done to our global respect (remember Cameron being blanked at G7/Nato gatherings) , what impact did Boris's lying and Sunak's inability to attend the D day commemorations have, Truss's 40 odd days as PM etc.

Not so much short memories as highly selective.

Quite.

I work with many international businesses, business owners and their staff and we are seen far more positively on the global stage (especially the US and Europe) then we have been for many years.

It's only domestically where all the noise is coming from. And from those with the highly selective memories of what we have put up with for the last decade or more.

At what point does the General public point to the amount of manifesto Items that have not been implemented or backtracked on and scream 'Fraud'! If you bought a hoover on the promise it would clean windows, and then found it didn't, you'd send it back.

At what point do the public realise the fourteen year mess is almost impossible to reverse. Nothing has changed drastically, yet you would think we are where we are because of Starmer. It’s as if he lit the fire not trying to put it out. Not a direct supporter of Starmer, but it saddens me if people think we have a viable alternative right now.

Agree, there is no viable alternative, but there is also no accountability for his failed promises.

Well done to the Labour MPs, more power to their elbow.

I have no problem with a government listening and changing course, wish it would happen all the time!
