Summer Transfers 2025 (rumours and incomings)

I think McAtee got double figures last year in all competitions which wasn’t bad as he didn’t start a lot of games and isn’t a striker per se.
He got 7 in all comps, 3 in the Prem.

I think he’s a great player and actually would be pretty high on my list of players for us to sign this summer, but my point is just that he’s not a particularly prolific goalscorer in men’s football.

The left-footed 'Salford Silva' is certainly well balanced and such an attribute enables him to go past opponents with some ease.

There is also the thought that strikers need to settle. Before being damaged by the Millwall goalie JPM was scoring freely after many had questioned if he was a striker.

According to clickbait, Bournemouth are planning a double swoop for Guehi & Mateta, now I'm worried . . .

I do not know if there is any truth in this, however I certainly do not believe that Mateta and Guehi would be interested in joining Bournemouth.

did a 5 year old write this article. In what world are either of those joining Bournemouth who aren’t even in European competition

Priceless comedy 😂

But first they have to see if we reject the double swoop approach from Tranmere Rovers.
Only if Mbappe turns them down.
Out of interest does anyone ever swoop outside the transfer window? It's like when players "jet in" they only do that when they're about to be signed. They ought to be careful with the transfer window too - all that slamming closed can't be good for it.

Last season Brighton spent more money than any other club in the world. And their net spend (£230m) was 50% above the Arabs in 2nd place.

Still won f*** all.

The top 10 on net spend last year is a shambles. In order: Brighton, Al-Nassr, Ipswich, Man United, Al-Ittihad, Tottenham, PSG (great season in fairness), City, West Ham, Al-Ahli.

Spend big does not equal spend smart.

Weed "recruitment model" is a myth. The sign many many players from other academies and minor sides at 18-21 for 6 and 7 figures that never break through, and they quietly move them on for losses. Occasionally they get a Mitoma type (he's a late bloomer really) or a flash in the pan like Ferguson, but it's unsurprising that they do get some come through given the pure number of signings they make.

Go look at their transfer history, pretty much 3x the number of transfers a typical club will make, and you won't of heard of the player nor half the clubs they've signed from.

If we lose our best players to the likes of Bournemouth I’ll give up watching. They had a good solid season but really, it must be desperately slow at the moment if that is what they are digging up

Liverpool look to be having a superb window.

They are replacing quality with quality.
Frimpong and Kirkez will ensure ongoing pace, attacking impetus and service from the flanks.
Wirtz gives them craft in attacking midfield which I think they’ve lacked.

In a sense their situation is clearer than ours because they know they’ve lost Alexander Arnold and possibly the ageing Robertson.

We have a few questions which need addressing.
Guehi is rumoured to be the most likely to leave but nothing concrete has emerged thus far.
Eze has a release clause supposedly, but will anybody bite and does he want to go in any event?
Will Mateta be sold if he doesn’t sign a new contract?

If we somehow managed to retain our squad ( minus Chilwell, Turner, Ward), then we’ve replaced Turner, but need another LWB and defender.
Aside from that we have cover in every position.

Just spotted this.

Armando Broja has returned from Everton to Chelsea after an underwhelming loan period.

We were being urged to sign this player several years ago and I said at the time I didn't understand the fuss well he's been on several loans and each time the club have declined to sign him.

I'm glad the club kept away from this guy. Maybe one day he will become the player he was hyped up to be but so far there is no sign of it.

Typical Chelsea, over hype and player and demand top dollar.

Signed by Dyche with an "Option to buy" clause. Dyche was then replaced by Moyes in January and Broja played a few games under him.
Broja has been loaned out to 4 clubs, at Fulham the loan fee was a total of up to £4 Mill.

Whats a myth?

They buy players that they expect/hope will develop. But also buy with a plan, Caicedo, Mitoma, MacAllister etc all signed and straight out on loan.

Its not a model that comes without risk, but also has huge upsides when they get it right.

They also are able to identify talent/willing to take the risk at a much younger age than most clubs.
