Favourite takeaway (and dish)?

From the Indian: Chicken tikka dhansak, pilau rice, plain naan, onion bhaji.

From the Chinese: sweet and sour pork, crispy chilli beef, plain chow mein.

From the chippy: Battered jumbo, chips, mushy peas.

From the pizza place: Pepperoni with jalapenos, chicken goujons, coleslaw.

From the kebab shop: chicken shish with extra hot chilli sauce.

From the Mexican: beef burrito.

From a proper pub that isn't mucking about: cheese ploughman's.

From a small local cafe: coffee and walnut cake, latte.

From police custody: roast beef, yorkshire puddings, peas, roast potatoes, roast parsnips.
LOL

try to avoid take away, but when I do:
Indian : vindaloo
chinese : beef curry n chips

Donner Kebab
Mc Ds- big Mac or double cheeseboiger.
If I’ve had a few and there’s a Maccydees on the way home, it’s always a triple cheeseburger and small fries. That’s all that’s needed. Too much bread in a Big Mac and their quarter pounders are too dry.

I’m in Spain at the moment and the Big Macs are a proper size not the half size we get in the uk now. Much as I try not to go in one of the chain takeaways when I’m on holiday with all the nice restaurants around, we got off a boat trip right next to one and I couldn’t resist.
So basically it’s my long winded way of saying Big Macs are my favourite takeaway dish 😁

Devastating news. The one Indian Restaurant in our area, which had a 5 star for hygiene, has been visited again by the Council.
It's new hygiene rating is 1 star

So, I guess we're all out of Indian food, unless it's from the chilled section of the supermarket. 🙁

I have fond memories of trips to Brick Lane and Southall, having to take a carrier bag of booze in to any of the Indian restaurants, because they don't sell alcohol. 😎 👍

Do you not want the authentic one star taste?

After playing local cricket for years, I realised nearly all Indian restaurants are Bangladeshi or Pakistani. I guess Pakistani restaurant just doesn't have the same market appeal. I asked owners about it and they said everyone expects it to be Indian, so they just go along with it. A Pakistani restaurant opened here but gradually became Turkish.
I also noticed a lot of the Italian restaurants are Romanian, Turkish, Greek or Albanian. They're just pandering to what they think the punter wants/ expects.

I have two pals that own curry restaurants and generally speaking the hygiene rating comes down to the ability to complete paperwork. Often the people completing it don't have English as a first language. Whilst high ratings are genuine, it's often a case that lower ratings aren't indicative of poor standards, rather poor paperwork. For a place that went from 5 to 1 I would definitely suspect paperwork came into play. Granted, I still wouldn't eat there, but you're not going to end up with a pube biryani.

I realised not so long ago that the quality of Mushroom Bhaji has gone downhill, so it’s mushroom rice instead. Saves a few quid or choose something else as well as.

The actual problem with excess migration from the Asian sub-continent is that I can't get a curry anywhere.

They used to be so plentiful but many have closed down.

Tesco or Sainsbury ready stuff is about it.

Most disconcerting.

🙁

We had a superb Chinese restaurant near us that we used regularly, they knew us and we got great service. It was closed down because of poor hygiene (fair enough) oddly I never had a tummy problem or heard of anyone who had.

Plenty of chicken shops and bones and litter everywhere instead. Winner winner chicken dinner.

Hottest I've ever had ( and given that I used to go to India regularly on business ) was the Phall at the Weymouth Tandoori

When I lived in Newcastle there was a curry house that offered the challenge special and if you managed to eat it all there would be no charge. Many tried but very few managed to finish it.

I ate there several times but was never brave / stupid enough to try it and just ate "normal" curries

Nearly an Indian takeaway, but not quite. Our local butcher is selling marinated beef and chicken chunks. It's either Chinese spice or curry sauced. It is gorgeous stuff, that I don't feel able to compete with doing my own. 20 minutes in a pan to cook through, and food heaven.
I'm gaining a bit of weight recently, probably linked to trips to the butchers

There was a chippy in Aberdeen did something similar with their whale.
