European football

Our pitch is only 101 metres long. It has to be 105 metres, which has been approved by losing a few rows in the Whitehorse. So this will no doubt be our first part of ground redevelopment this summer. ( It is already wide enough 68m. which we have Malcolm Allison to thank for. He persuaded the board to widen the pitch and improve the playing surface on his arrival, as well as turning us red and blue and giving us the Eagles nickname.)
Also Glasner was saying he needs three more players.
So our board has some hefty decision making.
We need to hold onto our manager, coaching staff and players.
Considering we are in Europe now, coupled with the fantastic support and atmosphere around our club, it is hard to see why anyone would leave if we build on our success ( other than money of course).
After everything Parish has achieved for our club (which is already massive) I am very confident both he and our board will find all the necessary solutions to launch us higher than most of our dreams.
Bring it on!! We have arrived.
I love the optimism, mate.

I'm already a bag of nerves over the prospect of Europe.

When I see your confidence, it shames me.

For your highlighted last comment, I just think of two equivalents; "Go back to your constituencies and prepare for government" (David Steele) and "The English are coming" (Colin Welland).

Is it that I'm a just miserable git or is it all these years following the Palace? There's always a drama.

Considering we'll probably need players to cover all comps, does anyone think Edouard will be bought back into the fold or are his days at Palace numbered?
If two Leicester managers don't deem him worthy of their matchday squads then unless we subsidise his wages, we are stuck with him for another year. And to think he should be in his prime

if so we can use him as a squad player, number 3 behind JP and Eddie, last chance saloon in cup games, cud get a tune out of him on that basis

If we play it right, this could be our chance to level up as a club. Being in Europe will allow us to attract a higher standard of players this summer. I believe we could see ourselves become a top 10 regular, possibly making European pushes, every year.

This can really be the next step for us and I'm sure the club already has a plan.

and a serious question :

how do we maintain good league performances while being distracted & tired from European dreams ?

From other teams experiences it will not be easy

But I think the number one thing to get right is to have a settled first eleven on day 1 of the premier league.

For all the reasons Glasner has said many times we had a bad start for a reason. Late recruitment and the international competitions. There are a few internationals but no major international commitments.

So it means keeping the current squad and filling in the gaps early in the transfer window so there are more options for Glasner to pick from. We should be an attractive destination next year. Less reasons for leaving it late. A bit more money in the budget too.

If we can do that then after 7 games we could be 7-10 points better off than this season. And that will be a handy buffer in the (hopefully avoidable) situation of dropping points on the Sunday when we are exhausted

If it was straight knock out we might not have got past the first round, but having eight games gives us a chance to find our feet. It also gives us a chance as fans to breathe and take it in. Parish has outright said that Glasner will at least see out his contract, so now the club need to move quickly to get the squad in order. Transfer window opens on 1st June this season, so for once let's hope we're early movers.

Wow, this is looking very exciting

In the FA Cup also looking to get a nice easy draw

Why in Europe do I want the biggest possible team from Pot A

Well there goes my chance of convincing the wife of making it a family holiday...

"Yes darling, let's go the beautiful city of Razgrad..."

I returned from Wembley yesterday evening, voice-less and a bit knackered. What a great day Saturday was! If I had one wish for the European Cup, it would be for an away game in Vienna against FK Austria Wien (they might well be in). A 45 minute tram journey from home to see Palace live!

PS: If that happens, I will of course post here how complicated it is for me to travel across Vienna to the game in the evening during the week..... 😉 🙂

It does however, close on the 10th June(19.00). Then it re-opens 16th June till 1st Sept(19.00)

100% agree.

A good start will be vital IMO. Get a couple of wins in the bank, and get through to October in a reasonable position.

Also imputative that we deal with the MG issue early. Dont want to be replacing our captain a couple of weeks into the season. He goes early or not at all.

Should probably just write the league cup off now. See how far the kids can get.
