2025 FA Cup Final thread

We've always been a special club.
Today is one of the finest moments in my years of support (c.55).
So much respect from everyone including City fans.
Shame Pep through a wobbly. Not like him 😉
So proud to be Palace.

Best moment of the match?

For me, it was when ref Stuart Attwell blew the final whistle. That blast was the music of a choir of angels and we were all in Paradise.

I thought Attwell had a pretty good match.

I wonder if he might consider selling the whistle.

I genuinely don't care about whether Henderson could have been sent off. Every other decision went their way. They just want excuses.
We have enough decisions go against us every season, that when one goes for us we should just take it.

Last night in conversation with a supporter I opined that Stuart Attwell had a game worthy of credit.
Indeed, it showed VAR as being useless. The ref was largely invisible, kept decent control, but consulted VAR when appropriate...and VAR got the decisions wrong.

I just re watched the game (still had tears).

Something I noticed. Pep was looking at the Palace supporters having a party, crying, dancing and cheering etc. He genuinely looked amazed and you could see that for all there money city will never have that heart. Money can buy most things especially championships and trophies but it cannot buy what we have as a collective group.

I will never ever forget yesterday and how it feels in my life.
Been a City fan since 94 when my dad took me to Maine Road. I was crying against Stoke in 2011 and the year after against QPR. Exactly the same for the Inter final.

Don't be a sheep and follow the nonsense narrative that's painted in the media. We've got a decent set of loyal fans.

We won the lottery, but there's still a high number of core Maine Road fans. More than the day trippers I'd say.

All the best again for the rest of the season.

Thanks Mase, very gracious of you

You've won plenty and I expect you will win plenty more. Your side yesterday was very good at football. So hard to get a touch of the ball let alone possession. But after our two previous finals and our totally deserved run to the final this year it was just totally our time.

Actually had a nice chat with a City fan on the way in. He was talking about Malcolm Allison and your cup glory from the distant past and I told him what a big part of our club he is too. Not least naming us the Eagles and changing our colours! He also asked why we were singing 'Guardiola' so I let him know about the Dave Clark 5 and how you nicked our song!
I didn't realise Allison managed you, asked my dad about it when it was mentioned on ITV.

I've never minded Palace to be fair. I'm sure we sold Granville to you when I was a kid and Sun Jihai popped up with you later on.

You're building a really solid team that's enjoyable to watch.

I don’t doubt that for one second, had some decent chats with a few of your ‘proper’ fans before the game.

I think it would be inevitable of any club that the rest would come out of the woodwork and you’d get the inevitable flood of gloryhunters and tourists too.

Your away support for us (as a London club) is a joke, it’s like a demographic that would be more fitting of Disneyland.

I’d suggest for all the success and no doubt amazing games of football, this is a sincere downside. That along with the justified dismissal of being accused of buying any success (not that every other club has earned it fair and square).

Appreciate your comments and no offence was meant. But there was no doubt that pep looked in awe of the noise and atmosphere we created. I had multiple noise alerts on my watch warning me of the excessive noise.

It really doesn’t help you guys when your centre forward says even if you win the cup it’s been a dreadful season. If that’s true then you guys really have been spoilt and maybe if we won the lottery and did half of what you guys have done we would be too but right now that win means more than words can say and we really didn’t buy it. We have come from nothing and built something very special. We may never do it again but we did it right once.

Our manager at the time, Trevor Francis, signed Danny Granville from Man C for I believe £500,000 but this figure could be 'Way off radar'.
Sun Jihai played for both our teams but my understanding is that we signed him from a Chinese club and not from Man C.

Malcolm Allison bought Derek Jeffries from City too. He was a stylish player who, from memory, seemed almost too casual in his approach.

How much did we win? It's 2 million quid for the final but if you add up money from the 3rd round then it comes to 3.91 million. We could employ Rashford for 10 weeks! I'm still in shock - my beloved Palace won the F.A. Cup. 🤣

I wouldn't mind a lot of it being spent on Guehi to extend his contract - even by one year - so he can lead us into Europe

Players leave to go to big clubs to win trophies and play in Europe

Unbelievably that is what has just happened right here at Palace!

You're correct. He went from us to Manchester City.

Jeffries was a classy player, viewed as having great potential in his younger days with City.
He was tactically flexible as some of players were back in the day.
Anyone else remember the deployment of Stewart Jump or Peter Wall in the 'sweeper' role?
Very effective on occasions

Just watched full game back on youtube. Boy did Chris Richards have a great game yesterday! I didn't appreciate it whilst at the game but the number of headers he won, tackles and blocks he made was phenomenal.

I and many others will carry happy memories of yesterday with me forever. Thanks to the players, staff, the club and my fellow supporters.
