Per Bartram who played 12 games and scored 3 goals for Palace from August 1969 to December 1970 passed away on 12 May in Odense, Denmark at the age of 81.

I remember him well - my brother and I used to call him Peaches for some reason I have long forgotten.

Because foreign players were still rare at the time it was quite exciting when we signed him and Borge Thorup. It didn't work out for either but Bartram did score our goal when Arsenal luckily won 5-1 at Selhurst.

Borge Thorup (born October 4, 1943), who joined Crystal Palace from Morton along with Per Bartram in 1969, passed away on September 2. His career at Palace was brief, however, as he played only one game before returning to Scotland. He also played one international match for Denmark.

iBartram had a footballing brain. On corners he positioned himself on the back corner of the box where he picked up balls overhit or defensive headers and recycled them back in to keep up the pressure. This also helped prevent quick counter attacks. I’ve seen many opposition goals from our corners and always think of Per. RIP

Hadn’t realised he played so few games. Remember being excited that we had a foreign player playing for us. Now it’s surprising having British players in our team. How times have changed. RIP Mr Bartram
