Habemos Papem.... we got a new Pope

In his speech, Starmer reckons the new Pope has a role to play in bringing people and nations to address the major issues of out time, "especially on climate change".

The idiot just had to bring that into it. A reaffirmation that he and his coterie of tossers are going to continue their insane drive towards net bloody zero, and want the Pope to stick in his two-pennyworth in support of their madness perhaps?

I bet Ed Miliband went into paroxysms when he heard that!

I'm just not sure what bloody climate change has got to do with Catholicism?

Quite a bit if you don't follow the rules. Things are liable to get very hot indeed.

Didint Noah build an Ark because of the rising sea levels?

Any religion that discourages its women to marry 'off the Ranch' while simultaneously permitting their men to do so ? That would be hypocrisy and playing political games for the greater Market-share of the Religion itself...not the good of the people.

Which seems to be very many of the big religions.

Successful Religions ARE often toxic and their number one rationale is to serve their own purposes, to spread conversion and to take over new territory. The nicer kinder religions will be like prey to the Lions - and often get eaten. As did the Druids, Latin-American Shamen, and the Zoroastrians.

Roman Polytheism was a lot nicer than the intolerance of Monotheism.

Religion...........possibly the NUMBER ONE reason for wars in history. To quote another thread on HOL, 'a Trivial Pretext for violence'. Picking up a weapon and battering a fella you don't even know - a fella you don't even want to rob, with little fear of him robbing you. Ulster, India/Pakistan, Israel/Palestine , the former Yugoslavia , the Spanish Armada, Crusaders & Jihadists.

don't disagree with any of that but these are actions of the institutions built on and who've twisted the various religious ideals and look to enforce it upon others as the one truth, actions which sadly are synonymous with the term 'religion' nowadays.

You're forgetting that Catholicism is do what you like - ask forgiveness and you are forgiven. Repeat.
At no point are you excluded or expected to change in any sense.
The mantra in Ireland used to be "sure, there's no getting away from being a Catholic no matter how far you run".
The funniest one I've met is a gay Opus Dei guy who spent his whole time asking me about his dilemma "how can I be religious and gay?". Obviously drunk, presumably fancied me.
