He's an economist, just telling you why we're f***ed. But if you want to side with people who have many multiples of billions, and say they need to keep more, god help you.Stevenson can afford to be socialist

He is. He mentioned Robin Hood, he's like the peasant castle henchman who would die for his lordshipYes, in most cases the reasons are corruption and/or exploitation, either recent or historic.
Surely nobody is still clinging onto a notion that our society is meritocratic..?
The main reason is that they don't live in a country with Socialist economics.
Who is calling for full socialism? Gary isn't. I'm not, nobody is.Which countries in the past with fully socialist economies do you think were successful and enriched their people?
Something is either true or not.Ha ha ha blame the immigrants. They've got you haven't they lolol
It's funny that you think that. You seem to be a little mixed up generally. He is. He mentioned Robin Hood, he's like the peasant castle henchman who would die for his lordship

Ok, give us a brief description of what you are calling for.Who is calling for full socialism? Gary isn't. I'm not, nobody is.
To get money off of the super-rich you have two options....Have something that incentives them to be here (difficult as our elites have destroyed the country...and yes foreigners are part of that) or you steal it from them....and end up like Argentina was.
Unless you have some other magic answer that is going to keep billionaires here?
Some families were actually threatened with arrest when they tried to get the police to help.getting back to the OP. Is it safe to say that most of the victims of the Grooming Gangs were white girls from impoverished backgrounds ? with little or zero family defensive-infrastructure ?
try getting a girl pregnant in Renaissance Italy and see how long before the brothers, uncles and cousins rush in to defend her honour ? The past is another country.
One father was actually arrested for trying to help his daughterSome families were actually threatened with arrest when they tried to get the police to help.
Why do people like you have an inability to understand that there's quite a lot in between full on socialism, and communism, and pure capitalism?
How would your economy and society works exactly? It's incredible to me how many people remain utterly convinced by capitalisms virtues, and the evils of any sort of alternative or hybrid approach, despite most people agreeing that our democracy and society is not functioning as it should, and despite the unequivocal data showing that a tiny percentage of people are hoarding obscene amounts of wealth with living standard collapsing for everyone else.
It's also remains incredible to me that many people actually think you hit high-level wealth just by 'working hard' or 'being successful'.
How would your economy and society works exactly?
You still haven't explained how your system would work in practice. For a long time we have had a predominantly capitalist system with some socialist ideas and policies intertwined within it - if we all acknowledge that we have allowed capitalism to corrupt our political system and seen an enormous transfer of wealth from the middle and working classes to the rich, I don't see why it's so unpalatable to some that we may need to reign in capitalism slightly so that it works for the majority again.
I am not remotely proposing a different 'system' to what we have now.You still haven't explained how your system would work in practice.
My forebears were all working class, they would be amazed by the standard of living that most of us enjoy these days.
That's great but I'm not sure how or why you think it's relevant. My forebears were all working class, they would be amazed by the standard of living that most of us enjoy these days.

Really? I would have thought it's pretty obvious following on from what you posted, or do you think equally distributing wealth would work in the long term. That's great but I'm not sure how or why you think it's relevant.
