2 years ago predicting anything but a sequence of valiant failures would have been the mean for HOL. Now..?

Win the next 4 together with the last result is arguably the best sequence of results in the clubs (recent?) history. A cup final, 50 + points and some serious scalps.

I'm not optimistic but I will call it: one down, four to go...

I must admit I've been looking at them for a while and thinking, 'gulp'.

Still, the team is playing as well now as any time in the season.....So fingers crossed.

This is a tough run in. We will either surprise everyone or manage only 4 points between now and the end of the season.

Past teams I'd expect nothing. This team I expect something. I think maybe 4-6 points. But I mainly want the cup win.
It’s a tough run in, but like you I fancy this team in any game at the moment, City and Liverpool are not exactly invincible at the moment, spurs are spursy and beatable, wolves, forest and Bournemouth at home are winnable,Newcastle and Arsenal will be our toughest games I think

But we’ve got the distraction of the cup now, so all the above games are losable well 🤣

5-2 but it should have been different and maybe a 4-3 or even 3-3 could have been the result. I believe we could be at least a top half and maybe a top 6 or seven and a proper Europe next season

Putting all our eggs into the Cup basket?

So long as the Europa League revenue is more than the position bonus and it encourages stars considering their options to stay I do see the logic

And Glasner has won it!

Feel silly I started this thread

Who would have thought City would remember they are City just when we play them.
No need to feel silly silvertop, just change the focus on our next 3 games.

Newcastle on Wednesday will be tough, but I'm expecting a massive push from the lads to show they're not demoralised after the City game. We've done it before, so we can do it again. Win.

Bournemouth at home when I hope to see Ollie field a full strength side. They have faltered slightly of late after a decent spell and it'll be interesting to see how they get on tonight against Fulham. Draw.

The Arsenal game is the big worry. Just 3 days before our trip to Wembley. Frankly, I don't mind how we do as long as our key players get through it without incident. I'd like to see Ollie field a side with predominantly bench players. He could even start Kamada as far as I am concerned, and my teeth are grinding as I write. Lose.

The fourth game now is the semi, and that's the one we all want to win.

I do not expect us to emerge triumphant against A.Villa.
They have a stronger squad and squad depth will prove decisive.
I appreciate I have been a 'Profit of Doom' on HOL !
Maybe you need to tell Villa that. You know what with them losing twice and drawing with us this season not to mention the spanking we gave them at the end of last season. If theire squad depth was that much better than ours they'd have put out teams to beat us every time. You can mention that they have injuries but so have we. You cope

A.Villa are in a rich vein of form winning 8 of their last 9 games in all competitions.
Having perused their matchday squads I have concluded they have greater depth than we have.
I believe they will be too strong for us on the day, but time will tell !

Impressive form. What happened ten games ago, before that run began?

I agree about the depth of their squad and form.
Watkins, Rogers, Ramsey, Rashford,Asensio and Bailey are the choices for the attacking positions alone.
McGinn and Teulemans in midfield and possibly the best goalkeeper in the league.
It's a one off game too, so I can't take much comfort from the fact they haven't beaten us recently ( some would argue they are due a win).

Fortunately the game isn't played on paper.
Villa might be slight favourites, but if we can play a full strength team we have a chance against any team in the league.
It's too close to call, and could be decided on a moment of brilliance, a mistake or a referee decision.

Looking at the Citeh game, I wonder if OG isn't just going to husband the squad before the big semi. For all the reasons that were given re Mats coming off, I wonder if the manager just wants to keep him uninjured and ticking over but fresh.

In the same vein, I was surprised Hughsie didn't start but Yamada did. I wonder, here, if they want to keep him fresh, uninjured, out of the book but fit.

I was astounded when Mats came off for Hughsie: no striker? Extraordinary.

That did start me wondering about the above scenario. There's balance between keeping the players fit but lessening the risk of one or two players being ruled out of the semi, through injury, or maybe a sending off.

Am I being silly thinking any of this?

For me, our strongest team would be Hendo; Richards, Max and Guehi; Munoz, Adam Hughsie and Tyrick across the middle: Sarr with Eze and Mats up front.

If we are able to put that side out, we are well capable of beating the Villains. They're in fantastic form and I'd like them to keep on winning and for us to look 'out of form' going into the match. I relish the underdog role with Palace.

It will be fascinating to see the league match teams that he puts out between now and Wembley. Will we see more rotation?

It's so weird: my life seems to be on hold, waiting for the match.

I've got it bad.
