I’ve taken losing cup finals, play off finals and big games for palace on the chin, but hearing he had signed for Arsenal was my saddest day as a palace fan, I was on holiday in Cornwall and read it on ‘ceefax’ 😢

I’ve never got some palace fans turning against him. He has every right to be proud of his Arsenal career. Plus he’s always talked about the final he lost with us almost as fondly as winning it with Arsenal because it was his first final, especially after the pain of thinking he was going to miss out and eventually coming on and scoring those two goals

As a footnote,he actually played more games for Palace than Arsenal. Although when you hear him speak you wouldn't know it. When he talks about Arsenal it is always WE this and WE that.

I remember the dreadful day he left us clearly.
I was driving past Dulwich Park on the way home from work and nearly smashed my fuckin lovely Daimler Double Six V12 5.3 litre monster into the feckin railings.
I've never forgiven him for nearly wrecking me motor and giving me high blood pressure. All that aside he's a legend and I will always love the bloke.

He’s emotionally a bit iffy. He can seem like a wanker. I think he gets defensive about Palace. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He had a dreadful childhood. That’s why I still have time for him and nothing can take away those days with Bright when we terrified defences. Great memories.

He went to Arsenal because Ron Noades sold him. Who can blame him for loving his very successful time at Arsenal?

Like Zaha, he is unappreciated for what he did at Palace by a section of whining fans.


He gets in our all time squad all day. It's just a shame Noades didn't put football before money. We might have stayed in the top league a bit longer back then.

To have a pop at him for any reason you do wonder if they actually see him play in a palace shirt, because for those great 6 years he gave us there’s nothing he can do or say now that will taint those memories.

Remember where I was working, gutted when it came on the radio he'd gone to Arse.
next day several gooner mates crowing about it.
Personal opinion only, but think hes decent chap, very emotional & lets it lead him sometimes.
Always remember the buzz at Selhurst in his early days, when he was coming on as a Sub.

Well, we don't agree as Jim Cannon won multiple Player of the Year awards (1977–78, 1984–85, 1986–87). He was a Palace man (unlike your Wrighty here) and not everyone is a money wh0re as Matt Le Tissier also demonstrated....Trevor Brooking another one.
