Players not linked to transfer speculation...

Hughes was linked with Fulham, West Ham and one other team a few weeks ago. He has since been quoted as saying he loves it at Palace and would be open to signing a new contract.
I hope he does. When on his game, he has shown he can play very well in OG's system.

Only downside(to some) is his card count. He is on 8 already, 2 more & that's a 2 match ban.
I used to think he was reckless in his tackles, gaining too many yellow cards, but I reckon his overall performances this season have been well worth the risk of him being banned for a couple of matches. One of our star turns.

I agree. He is tougher than he looks haha.

I also think his card count is directly related to us not having been able to field the same midfield combination from one game to the next, constant disruption means the lads dont get used to each others positioning & duties, leaving Hughes to mop up breakaway attempts from the opposition, not so much a last ditch tackle, more of a "nip it in the bud" type duty.

That's a good point about him and with my Palace blinkers on there's something less cynical about his game than the way the likes of Man City routinely foul anyone who looks like breaking away. Although they don't get booked as often because they're superstar geniuses and he's a journeyman at a cannon fodder club who dares to stop them from thrilling the world.

We have collected 48 Yellows this season, Man C have collected 44 Yellows.

Sorry mate, he's just a dirty b******. Even when he he was playing alongside Wharton consistently at the end of last season he was picking up cards

It will be an interesting Summer, hopefully we will find the right players before selling any of our current crop. You know when things are going well when the media has your entire team up for sale!

You say that like it’s a bad thing 😀
Our best sides of the past have had players who are not frightened to get stuck in, put themselves about and rattle the opposition.
I know times have changed a bit and you can get booked for breathing too heavy on another player these days, but hughesey’s popular because of his commitment, even if he does collect a few cards and give us kittens when he’s already on a yellow

Hughes has currently accumulated 9 yellows this season.
Players who receive a total of 10 yellow cards in their side's first 32 matches will be given a two-match suspension.
At our club, Hughes has collected 26 Yellows in 108 appearances. No Reds.

He's never given me a kitten. Is this a new initiative?
