think we'll use the international break to bed in a new manager. Sage might be gone before that and maybe Paddy takes the first team for a match or two. Whether it's Sage's fault or not, he'll be the fall guy.

Can't believe we've waited this long tbh. We've learnt nothing just lost. Whereas time could have been better spent letting a new manager actually assess the squad rather than wait until the international break when most of the players will be away.

If the decision makers continue to make these poor decisions we're going to get in serious trouble and the Roy's, Pulis', Allardyce's of the world don't really exist anymore.

We will almost certainly lose at Anfield, but if we have a committed performance and actually look like a football team, then Sage might survive a little longer. If we play as we did on Thursday, he is toast. This is with the assumption that the die hasn't already been cast.

My opinion is that we have not improved at all and with January still two months away, sacking Sage might be the only current option to try and improve things. I don't think Sage knows how to get the available players to be effective. We are playing with 3 centre backs when none of our wing back options can really do the job. Our midfield is overrun constantly placing too much pressure on our shaky defence.

I blame the board for selling Munoz and Lacroix, but we must now deal with what we have.

Sage hasn't helped himself by failing to even try a different formation. Three at the back hasn't been working since Guehi left. It increasingly seems that the formation only works if you have three top-drawer centre-backs who complement each other and who have an understanding. After Guehi left, Glasner only got three wins in the PL, and they were quite fortuitous. He seems to have taken that form to Forest with him.

In reality, we could very easily have lost every game this season. Even our wins in Europe and the League Cup have been unconvincing. I had hoped Sage would try to shake things up, but we're just seeing the same tactics, formation and failings over and over. Yes, fingers can be pointed at the board and Hobbs, but if something isn't working, you need to change. Sadly, I do think this now also applies to Sage.

We're at home, so we'll definitely lose.

Ha ha. Of course we are.
To quote Newt from Aliens... It won't make any difference...

The good news is that there are no players in the England squad, not even Henderson.
I assume the likes of Sarr and Mateta won't be selected for their countries either.
We could have quite a few for a new manager to work with during the international break.

Knowing us we'll sack Sage and bring in a replacement 2 weeks later... And it'll be Rob Edwards.

In a bid to be more objectively balanced and less emotionally distraught, I’ve just rewatched last nights match (must say it was a tad more pleasurable knowing Diachi would pop up with the equaliser in added time😆).

But I’m still left very frustrated and bemused! I just don’t understand why Sage can’t recognise our problems at the back and do something proactive to at least try to address it?
We really take far too many risks chasing after the ball (sacrificing defensive solidity) and the zonal defending in our penalty area is just woeful - almost every cross and corner results in our opponents have a free man at the back post…… sometimes two!

I asked myself is our forward play so good that the poor defending is a price worth paying? I quickly decided NO!

I am coming round to the idea that Thomas Frank might be a sensible appointment. I think he did a very good job developing the players he had at Brentford and managing the egos of some of their important players. Also he wasn’t afraid to switch tactics mid game when needed.

I wanted Sage to be a success - but I think he should be out the door ASAP.

I'm one to side on air of patience but I must admit, I feel like Sage needs to go unfortunately.

With Glasner last season, we had a terrible start to the season but you could clearly identify a style of play and some kind of playing patterns. They clearly just hadn't clicked. We missed players that were crucial to a system. Hence giving me hope within a poor run of form.

Under Sage - what is our style of play? What is our identity? We have none. Bad defending maybe. Last night, there was 2 moments I saw where we pressed the play in Hoffenheim's half. They had the ball and we pushed onto them, both times with no real pressure though. We filled spaces higher up the pitch. One of the occasions, they played a ball long up the pitch and outnumbered our right back space and created a chance. The second occasion, they played 3 passes and we completely backed off until they were at our penalty area.

It's not good enough and there is absolutely nothing to suggest that is going to change.
