Matt Hobbs

I find it hard to see what the buying strategy is. We seem just to wait to the end of the window and take the ones nobody else wants.
The exception being last January with 2 panic buys.
Freedman seemed to have a strategy of identifying stand out youngsters in the championship and appeared to key in convincing them to join Palace.
Olise, Eze, Wharton have been great successes and paid off. There are of course failures Plange, Ebowie (?) and Esse but overall it worked.
I see nothing similar today

We’re still trying the same thing, just looking outside the Championship, I imagine partly because the cost of signing Champ players is getting ever higher.

Pino, Canvot, Osorio, Gozo, Khalaili were all 22 or under when we signed them, right in that same age group as the players you mentioned.

Don't agree the first part. We are financial lightweights by comparison with the comp and are compelled to shop accordingly.

I do agree that Hobbs is no Freedman and we really miss him.
