Granted that this is a forum for the exchange of ideas, views, prejudices and the odd rant, the truth, I suspect, is that Sage has forgotten more about football than the vast majority of his critics will ever know. Perhaps only those who have done their UEFA coaching badges should venture an opinion. This isn't Champ Man.
Sage doesn't have much experience does he? Or am I missing something?

i'm not a bricklayer but i can tell if a wall has been built properly.

If we want to shore up our defending, why not play Tyrick at left back? He played there during Royball, didn't he? Though he's gradually improved going forward, it's really not his natural position. I think Richards and Deano would be much happier with a proven defender at the back, and heaven knows communications would improve.

Both TM and our right wingback (whoever that is) need to concentrate on defending against Spurs. Their wingers (Kudus and Tel) were brilliant when they beat Chelski 2-0. In fact, di Zerbi & co controlled the game at Stamford B. and we better be in a defending mode come today. Otherwise it might end badly - both for the team and our manager.

Massive sliding doors moment for Sage.
If he loses to spurs and Liverpool in the league, I think he’s gone irrespective of the hoffenheim result.
But IF he was to get 3/4 or even 6 points and a positive result against hoffenheim.
We’d be in the quarterfinals of the league cup, 2 wins and a draw out of 4 games in Europe and hull and Coventry next in the league. We’d be flying. It could happen 🔴🔵
Love your optimism . I've being saying give him more time but .3/4 or 6pts it's is a big ask if we get 3 great but happy to take 2 . But we must beat hoffenhelm . Apart from bad defencive play against lyon that gave them 3 goals , and 100% bias ref we would have and could have still won that match , without that ref lyon was nothing to fear

I am not really impressed with Sage. That said, he has had to deal with not having Mateta and Sarr available. And Sarr is out for a further few weeks. We still have enough quality in the personnel if deployed efficiently. But we are operating a chaotic system of high press with our wing backs high up the pitch which creates multiple chances for opponents. Weirdly, against Fulham we reverted to a low block with 24% possession yet still looked very leaky at the back. I prefer Honest to Canvot.

Would love to see Osario and McNeill get on the pitch this afternoon at some point. Looking forward to the game with some trepidation but who know…maybe we will spring a surprise.

I have engaged in communication with a plethora of supporters apropos Sage.
Some are of the view that the season is in its infancy, he has faced extenuating circumstances and should be afforded time to steer the ship out of pitchy seas.
Others are mindful of the above but have concluded that he is the wrong person for the job and as such a change is necessary. These souls point to his inexperience as a manager and being thrust into the PL in difficult circumstances is very challenging for him.
Some have got splinters on their rump, due to 'Sitting on the fence' !
It has been well documented that I had reservations about this appointment even before the season commenced but I wished him every success on HOL and hoped he succeeded.

If we play Khalaili as WB, and Richards as the right of the Three CBs, Mathys Tel will rip us to pieces.

Whatever happened to our resolute defending? Never seen better than the FA Cup final against Man City. We are nowhere near this level now. Yes, Guehi, Lacroix and Munoz have gone but we shouldn’t be as shambolic as we are. Whether we play a low block or a high press. Unfortunately, this is Sage’s responsibility. I liked Viera and wanted the best for FDB but I think we will get smashed today and that will be the end of Sage. I sincerely hope I am wrong.

I’m afraid the quality of defender has taken a serious dip which hasn’t helped Sages cause, plus in trying to find his best team that back three has been chopped and changed nearly every game which is not good. Good defences are the stable ones where they get used to playing with each other as a unit ala Guehi, LaCroix and Richards
