Republic of Ireland, gone to the Dogs ? - Every National Statistic going down the Swanny ?

Money caused most of the problems. California Tech-Billions, big Pharma billions & Brussels billions.

I'd rather have Money problems then having No Money problems. I'll also take living near billionaires over living near the destitute as they tend to be less violent and troublesome. Money not solving problems is different then money actually causing the problems. Do I think the money influx to Ireland is going to make it worse? No, it just gives morons a crutch about how successful Ireland is that isn't an accurate picture of the situation.

I find Krugman to be entertaining at times, but as far as economic theory goes he's slightly below Fidel Castro and a guy who used to work for me who thought that selling baseball cards was his ticket to big success (after he got kicked out of the Army for doing cocaine) on the economic prediction accuracy charts. And the stuff he does get right is basically things anyone who is only mildly retarded could come up with (AI will replace jobs. Great insight Paul).

Money does not do that, stupidity does. Money only provides a lie of cheap labor as an excuse. Ireland turned on the immigration faucet starting around 2005 and started adding an additional 50,000-70,000 each year since.

I remember taking a bus tour through Kerry decades ago and having them stop the bus in the middle of the road so the tour guide could point out immigrants to a group of which 90% were American grandmothers. I through me for a loop because I didn't know if the guy was serious about immigrants but it turned out he was very serious about it.

How many now? I'm losing count. The criminality, violence and sex offending are hugely off the scale. This is completely unsustainable. Asylum seekers are not following the narrative the media, government and NGOs have created at all. You could suggest they don't seem to give a f*** about our society or laws.

The Irish political class seemed remarkably keen to sell the Emerald Isle by the Euro/Dollar to the globalist corporates over the past 30 years. So much so, that some are seeing Ireland as a globalist experiment to see what can be achieved when global multinationals essentially power a nation-state.

A bit of a populist study came out as the book Vandalising Ireland last year by commentator Dr Eoin Lenihan:

Vandalising Ireland: How the Government, NGOs, Academia and the Media Are Engineering a New Globalist Ireland is a 2025 non-fiction book by Irish journalist, researcher, and commentator Dr. Eoin Lenihan. Published by Western Front Books in October 2025, the 298-page book became an Irish national bestseller. [1, 2, 3]

Core Themes and Arguments
    • Critique of Globalisation: Lenihan argues that over the past 25 years—from the Celtic Tiger era to recent political coalitions—Ireland has transitioned into a "globalist experiment" that threatens native Irish culture and identity. [1]
    • Institutional Critique: The book claims that a network comprising the Irish government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), academia, and national media outlets acts as a coordinated establishment that suppresses alternative or critical viewpoints. [1, 2]
    • Migration and Communities: Lenihan addresses the social tensions surrounding government migration and asylum policies, arguing that the rapid settlement of asylum seekers in close-knit rural and local communities has created severe cultural and social friction. [1]
    • Proposed Alternatives: The text advocates for a right-wing political alternative, economic self-reliance, reduced state intervention, and a cultural revival rooted at the parish and local level.

Not sure a rightwing solution is what most Irish voters want though.
