Paddy has three roles;

- putting out the bibs and cones
- haranguing the 4th official
- being Parish's eyes and ears in the dressing room regardless of who the manager is.

Before anybody accuses me of maligning a Palace legend, I have no idea if any of the above is true, although there could be a kernel of truth.

With regard to the story about 2 players offering messages of support to Sage , I feel safe in assuming that one of them wasn’t Guessand.
Only 2 players openly supporting him from a squad of 25, his days a numbered. Will not be in charge for the Coventry fixture.

When speculation about a Manager is this rife, you know it's not long to go. Not many Managers have survived rough results. The only immediate Manager that springs to mind is Sir Alex, and he survived because of winning the 1990 FA cup.
Personally, I'd give Sage a lot longer, but football doesn't play by normal business etiquette. (note the use of French language 😀 )

Dont forget our Fa cup winning season! We didint win our first game of the season under glasner until the end of October I think?

I admire the optimism. As lots of people have said though the more expansive style has seen us score 9 in 8 and fail to score in 50% of our league games. We are on track for a similar number of goals as last season. We have the fourth lowest possession stats in the division with only the newly promoted teams below us. Pushing players up and being defensively exposed shouldn’t be mistaken for better football. We aren’t actually more expansive in any way that matters.
Half glass full vs glass half empty I guess. Personally I try to look for the positives.

And wouldn't be changing a manager when we are 3 points off 10th.

Five upcoming Prem games: Spurs, Liverpool, Coventry, Hull, and Chelsea early December. Sage needs a couple of wins to keep his job. With our defensive record (worst in the league) it will be a remarkable turnaround in form, but stranger things have happened. That said, defeat to Spurs and Coventry beating Sunderland (or vice versa) drops us into the relegation zone. I would have thought that that will be the catalyst for Parish to act. A shiny new stand sitting empty in the Championship must be weighing on his mind.

What stand?

Could it not be 2 players speaking for the squad? Maybe the captain and vice captain, hendo and wharton. Or the pfa representative's at the club.

It could be that your glass is nine tenths full and rapidly in danger of overflowing and causing quite the mess

It's a tough call. We've seen how changes of Manager can give changes of fortune in the Championship. Dowie at Palace, and Roy Keane at Sunderland are two extreme examples.
Paul Hart kept Palace up in the Prem in a vital season.
However, these tend to be exceptions. Managerial changes generally cause more instability

I defer to Neillo for his thoughts, and perhaps he might put his name forward as a short-listed Manager or potential investor 😀

Id expect an upturn in defensive solidity - which may lead to more Results, as soon as Hendo returns. He's a better shot stopper and organiser of the defense.
If he's back this weekend and doesn't relapse we've a decent chance of some points over the next 5 games.
I think Henderson's organisation of defence, as well as his goalkeeping ability, can be overlooked. I think a returning Henderson would sort a lot of defensive issues.

If Sage stays why can't we bring in a new defensive co-ordinator/coach? Whoever is responsible (you'd guess Paddy) at the moment doesn't seem to be up to the job.
I think the problem is we don't seem to have one, not enough probably

It's the overall tactics, not just the defenders. We're asking unsuited players to play out from the back, cover wide and the wide defenders to go upfield. Defences should be narrow and constrict the space. Our players are not ball playing defenders and it doesn't look like our wing backs are wingbacks. Everyone's suffering from unrealistic tactics and instructions. We have to get far more basic and start using the units as they are supposed to be used. The roles we're employing and the system we're playing obviously don't suit the players. Anybody can see it.

If poor suffering Sage,is given tonight's game together with the Spurs and Liverpool games to redeem himself, all very unfair as almost certain defeats particularly in the League, where it really counts, are inevitable.Certainly,a dead man walking.
