If the bloke had any balls he’d change the system or drop Khalali. His crosses today were absolute toilet and he gets lost miles up the pitch. Not ideal but hasn’t Chilwell played at right back?
Go to a back four and play Richards at right back if you need to. Again far from ideal but better than Khalali. Poor lad is so far out of his depth he’s in the Mariana Trench

I was in conversation with a learned gentleman in my local hostelry ( his name begins with a 'W'), and with little in the way of procrastination, he was firmly of the view that Sage was a 'goner' and that the ginger Mourinho would soon be ' in situ.'

What I struggle to understand is that Glasner effectively resigned in October 2025 by refusing to sign a new contract. So effectively there were many months of warning that a new manager would be needed for the 26-27 season in which it would have been possible to target the ideal man, perhaps not make a direct approach (tapping up) but at least be assured that his system and ethos fitted with our team approach.

So....8 games into this season with a team that lost too many players to either other clubs or wanting away, where are we? Clearly trying to play a more expansive attacking football but lacking the coordination in defence as a foundation. I can see glimpses of some interesting ideas and we should have beat Besiktas but are we really in the territory where a gaffer we lined up for a while is shown the door due to awkward teething problems? I remember when Glasner was in same boat in first full season.

These aren’t teething problems. These are fundamental issues in every facet of the game.

I challenge that we are trying to play more expansive attacking football. We’ve not scored in 50% of our league games and are on track for the same tally of goals as last season which was one where the attack was non functioning for large periods of time.

To be honest I couldn’t tell you what type of football we are trying to play or what the plan is to win games. Looks to me that’s how the players feel as well.

Has he been Sacked yet?
I posted this on the match thread and was (emphasis on was) one of the 93 so-called (by you) buffoons, who wanted Sage to be given more time.

"I've been a strong proponent of Sage being given time to sort things but when I saw the way we set up at the start of the 2nd half, I thought - "what on earth is going on?" All ten outfield players were within 5 yards of the halfway line when the ball was kicked back to Benitez.
Yes :
  • we should have been ahead at half-time
  • Newcastle were uninspiring in that 1st half and seemed to pose little threat
but then at the beginning of the 2nd half their eyes must have lit up at all that open space we offered them.

I might see things differently when I wake up tomorrow, but at the moment, I join those who say it's time for the manager to go. Whether Parish does it before Wednesday will depend on whether or not he has someone lined up. I suspect, though, that Sage will be a dead man walking until the International break."

I don't think I'm going to wake up seeing things differently tomorrow.

There must be some coaching set-up in europe where they bring out Glasner and Sage clones, who are programmed to just play the same way for every minute of every game, like some perverse compulsive repetitive disorder.

Sage has had the two games grace I gave him, the defensive problems persist and he doesn't seem to have an answer. Another manager should be given the chance now while there's still hope of a turn around. The players need to be picked up and the new guy needs to instil some confidence before it's too late.

If Sage is going to go then Parrish needs to go as well.

There needs to be a complete overhaul of the club if we are going to be sustainable instead of short spurts of good followed by years of suck. We've lost a lot of talent and what remains isn't getting Sage's system and the two games a week is wearing them out.

Woody needs to remove Steve and bring in someone who can run the club from top to bottom. Then when that Chairman gets his feet under him he gets to pick his manager. The putting band aids on bullet wounds doesn't work.

I am in total agreement.

If Kieran McKenna wants the job, don’t dilly dally get him in ASAP - to ensure he has plenty of time to turn things around.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater matey?!

I've been a supporter for nearly 4 decades now. The last few seasons have brought unparalleled success and we have brought in foreign investment: 'Woody' as you say knows very little about UK 'soccer' I would wager. Stripping more identity out of the club via some vendetta for a Parish ouster is arrant nonsense!

I must be a jinx or something.
I backed Brennan Johnson until the cow's came home and look what happened there!
Now from day one I've backed Sage fully yet feel I can no longer support the bloke.
Looks to me like some of the players simply ain't having him as some have already stated and that can only lead to one thing.
Also Sage is stubbornly sticking to a style which is not working and will not work.
Alas as much as I want him to work out and get us back to winning ways I don't think he will.
Prove me wrong Sage me old mate or it's time for a change.

Absurd. And completely bonkers.
