Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle match thread

I feel for Sage a bit today. The team selection seemed reasonably sensible. The tactics didn't seem mad. We weren't ridiculously open. It's famously hard to play well after a Thursday night in Europe. Several players have played very badly individually. Newcastle's goals were actually quite good.

If Sage had more credit in the bank, we'd probably not be talking about him today.

He hasn't, though.

Hopefully that's the end of sage as we're terrible again, same mistakes, looks like he's refusing to even attempt to sort us out defensively. If he stays much longer then the blame goes to Parish.

In fairness to Pino at least he's scrapped away and tried to make things happen.

It's the mad 15 mins after half time which has really cost us, but it's another 2 goal concession in a game which is almost now expected.

What is damning for Sage is he clearly changed tactics at halftime. The shape was different when we started the second half. Wingbacks pushed high up again and as in every other game we’ve done that it left the back three pulled all over the place. That’s either a deliberate change or Sage couldn’t instill basic information. Either way he can’t carry on

Not at all. Just saying Sage hasn’t actually sorted out the attack. We are awful in attack. Just we are even worse in defence.
Save is taking us down and Spurs are licking their lips at the prospect of improving their GD,and three very easy points next week!!

His energy has never been in question. This is yet another premier league game where he has been ineffective and easily handled by the opposition though.

All the people who said “at least Sage has sorted out the attack”. We are on track to beat last season’s goal tally in the League …by two. We are just absolutely awful under Sage
Some posters seem to suggest that everything is ok because we are scoring occasionally. When it's pointed out we concede more at an alarming rate and as a consequence lose the game then their argument has no legs to stand on. A bit like Sage's tactics.

Did we look solid because we were or just because Newcastle were awful in the first half?
I have no sympathy for him as he’s had many reality checks and today was a day maybe to change things but he’s got to go. His football hasn’t worked and we’re giving away goals Willy nilly
We have no direction and I’ve had enough of seeing us play a back 3 for a lifetime 😂
