Newcastle Predictions.

After watching the besiktas game I’m sticking with my 3-2, they’ll obviously be the obligatory conceding of goals, but I think we’ll out score them, especially if mateta is up for the scrap again

Lots of Geordie fat blokes, with their Noocassel shirts wrapped around their waist, queuing for pies at the food stalls. Spitting out lager-piss in the streets, asking for proper ale at the bars. The away section will be half-full, on account of the fat barstewards having to buy two seats each for their fat @r5e5.

I think it might be a lively free-scoring game. The odd goal could win it. Hopefully it's Palace, but it might be too close to call

Given that my 60+ years of expecting the worst is certainly not going to receed my first thoughts veer to the negative. The team was tiring approching 65 minutes last night, which is not a critism in itself but the same players will have to be on duty on Sunday. I can't see beyond Wharton/Kamada centrally as long as Timber is injured. Larsen will be out so JP will have to start. Defensively i guess the same 3/5. Despite our deeper/larger squad, injuries are rather ruining that concept. I can a ?-2. So, the question is, can we outscore them?

I believe Elanga is fit for the game.
The thought of him running at our defence or in transition with his incredible pace is not a comforting one.
He can be erratic with his delivery and finishing, but I could see him causing problems along with the tricky Barnes if we leave the usual spaces down the sides.
We did quite well last night in pressing but the intensity in Europe is less than encountered in the Premier League.
A score draw would be my forecast.

We rarely win comfortably (whichever league/division we've been in) and I'm hoping we might actually win this one, so I shall go for a Palace win 2-1. I just hope last night wasn't a false dawn but a step towards a more organised team.

Elanga is one of the quickest players in the PL.
Barnes is also very fleet of foot.
Newcastle have lost their last 2 away games 4-1, at Leeds and Coventry.

Let's hope Sunday was a false dusk.

Absolutely no idea what the result will be. Reading about their performances sound about as chaotic as ours. The winner will likely be the team that makes the least mistakes rather than the team who plays the best football.

It'd be nice to win but like I say I've got absolutely no idea what kind of performance to expect.

I'll go along with this. We cant hold a result. Our defence is currently just not good enough so we have to stay on the front foot for 90 mins and outscore them.

After being slated by Rooney on MOTD over his the alleged handball in our Forest win, Darren (my hero is Clattenburg) England is back in the VAR seat looking for revenge. He can chat with his Geordie mates when he joins the train at Doncaster. I suspect both teams will be very cagey and try to avoid defeat which may work to our advantage as long as DE doesn’t get involved. He stitched us up before and he’ll do it again given half a chance. Ill take another draw.

That was a very nasty tackle on Larsen and I can't see him being involved on Sunday, and possibly longer.
Mateta has only just returned so at best I think we'll se no more than 70 mins from him.
This being the case Nketiah is likely to play a role.
It's also seems unlikely that Sarr will play a full game as he still seems to be off the pace.
Therefore it seems likely that McNeil and/or Osario will get minutes too.

It could well be a game where the subs are going to play as key a role as the starters and let's see if they are up to the task.

Looking at a 2-1 win , with Deano shouting at our defence and Mateta getting things going up front . Would like to see 4 at the back with Hughes next to Warton and Kamada . If not Lerma instead of Hughes. To help the defence more in the air and bite

Newcastle are not the best of travellers and haven't seen anything this season that would suggest they have fixed that against anyone that puts them on the back foot

Still not happy with the defence but then again I don't suppose that anyone is ,lets hope they have a good one .

2-0

In the summer Newcastle lost key players Tonali, Guimaraes and Gordon.
They strengthened their midfield with 4 players for a sum which could reach £150 Mill and they have to adjust to the demands of their new team.
Newcastle also lost Eddie Howe who took 'Hold of the reins' when they were 19th in the PL after 11 games and he led them to 11th that season. In the following 3 seasons Newcastle finished 4th, 7th and 5th and overall his win percentage was approaching 50%.

I hope we don't have Wharton marking Dan Burn at set pieces as he did with Dunk in the Brighton game.
Surely we can also remember not to leave opposing players marked beyond the far post at set pieces as happened v Brighton and Forest.
Newcastle have some rapid players in wide areas, so perhaps try and avoid spaces behind the wing backs for them to exploit because they will take advantage.

I'm sure Sage knows all this anyway, but just in case ..!

As will we!

They have one more point than us at present.

Hope we build on Thursday’s performance albeit against Besiktas B team. Great goals for sure.

Hope we see this starting 11.

Hendo

Khalaili Richards Disasi Honest Mitchell

Wharton Kamada

Sarr Mateta Pino

I think Honest is a more natural defender than Canvot and he doesn’t make the regular howlers Canvot makes. My tupenny’s worth anyway.
