We need old fashioned, direct, hard to beat, grinding out results, Roy style 4-5-1, not flowery, tippy-tappy, football, wing backs that aren't, centre backs that play centrally (its in the title) as a pair, aggression, and hope.
It would seem that you would welcome Sean Dyche as our new manager.
In a conversation away from HOL yesterday his name entered the discussion and Dyche's mantra of "The minimum requirement is maximum commitment" formed part of our dialogue.

How did we play so well against Leeds - should maybe have won one nil, but have been so bad against Forest first half and Brighton? What was so different? Just the way Leeds played?

It is quite funny some of the over reactions, depending on the last couple of results people either love their club or parish is the devil and he’s ruined our club🤣

Remember those pathetic banners at Arsenal when we lost 5-0? A few weeks later we wiped the floor with Liverpool, Man U, West Ham,Newcastle and Villa playing some of the best football we’ve seen for years.

Yes it was bad against the weed and we might have signed some pups after spunking our budget up the wall in January, but things can soon turn around. After all we’re not exactly cut adrift at the bottom
I think this is different, this is Vieira style, we have know previous history to work on, this will spiral out of control, Glasner kept the players on his side, basically because of the late stages of the conference league, this is very different, Sage has no confidence in himself that he can right the ship, how are the players going to believe him, a shambles of their own making.

I must say when I see a manager feeling sorry for himself live on tv and making excuses for the performance I have to have serious doubts about his ability to find a solution and motivate his players.
Perhaps it's a cunning form of reverse psychology.

It was a one off. Every other game this season including friendly matches we have been a mess. We wouldn’t survive in the championship playing the way we have so far this season. I don’t think any of the wins so far this season that we didn’t have opponents missing easy chances that could have meant defeats if they had put them away and that includes our cup matches?

This is a fair question and no doubt detailed analysis will have been carried out by the club.
Most certainly the performance against Leeds was an outlier when compared to our showing in other games.
Our first half performances against both Nottm Forest and Brighton were totally unacceptable, unfortunately in respect of the latter the utter excreta continued after the break.

Well it's a mess at the moment 🤣
We're in a transitional period. Still in Europe, and but for a shocking ref would have got something against a top French side, we lost to the Weed who thrashed Arsenal and Villa and I hate to say it are on fire. Stop panicking everyone, we're 7 games in with new players and coaching staff. If we're still struggling at Christmas then Santa may have to think about a new manager under the tree 🎁 In my humble opinion we'll come good in the next few weeks🦅

Agreed. But.....I think it's a case of believing things can turn around.

We give our opinions based upon what we see on the pitch and the outcomes of games. We aren't privy to how the players are in training, whether the relationship with the manager is positive / negative etc etc.

So through that limited lens, I continue to think that things are actually even worse than they appear.

Why ? Even in the games won so far the team have been unconvincing. If you look beyond the results and focus on performance then I've seen only glimpses of quality. And that's not going to be enough in an unforgiving Premier League.

As has been discussed, the overall squad has ( arguably ) been improved in terms of less reliance on the likes of the Esse's and Rak-Sakyi's, but the quality of most permutations of a starting eleven has certainly not.

So we are stuck with the squad we have until January. Given our recruitment over the last 12 months, I'm not confident that the club will make the right choices in the market.

Will the manager be able to get more out of the current squad ? That's where I have serious doubts. There's a string of players that I don't think are good enough. Khalaili, Mingueza, Canvot, Disasi, McNeill, Guessand, Nketiah, Strand Larsen. Richards is heading that way on current form. One or two - Canvot and Khalaili - could turn things around given their age, but they others are mature, experienced, players.

As I've said previously, I think Sage has been dealt a poor hand by the club in terms of player sales and purchases. If Hobbs is the driving force behind those decisions then he needs to go.

I was of the opinion that Sage would be on his way sooner rather than later, and that was prior to Sundays debacle.

C'est la vie....

I agree with this analysis.
If we do get a new manager who sets us up differently tactically there will be a lot of deadwood to shift and our recent windows may look even worse.

That’s my point, you know what we’re like since promotion, up and down all season, we have a good little spell and suddenly we’re heading for the champions league or at least a top half finish and then we go a few games without a win with a couple of stinker performances and suddenly we can’t see where the next win is coming from and we’re doomed to relegation and Parish is ruining our club.
I don’t rate many of the new signings or sage at the moment, but early on Olise was an injury prone lightweight, Eze was overrated and was spending £18 million for a Chelsea under 21 player in guehi a good idea? And Munoz who?? Things can change very quickly

Maybe it is. After all when I’ve moved jobs it’s mostly been because I’ve received a better financial offer. I expect we can offer several times what Lens can. He’d probably earn more in a year with us then in three at Lens
...if he lasted a year. At least at Lens, he would have had credit in the bank if the team made a shaky start, as Glasner did with us at the start of the 24/25 season when we had just 3 pts after 8 games and suffered a 5-1 thrashing at home to Arsenal just before Christmas leaving us 16th with 16 pts from 17 games. The rest his history. We went on to win the FA Cup and finish with our highest PL points total (53). A funny game football and the season is long. I'm glad Sage is being given at least the next two games (according to Woosnam of The Athletic).

I feel like the first thing an experienced 'no-frills' manager would do is create a settled spine of about 7 or 8 senior, dependable, experienced pros who play most minutes of most games, supplemented by a second pool of four or five that he rotates. That would settle things down and give some responsibility back to the senior players.

It would also probably mean ringfencing two or three recent signings and telling them we have no immediate use for them. Probably Guessand, Gozo, and Osorio, at least. Very harsh on the latter two but we need a steadied ship in the short term, not a rotating cast of long-shots.

In other words, yeah, undoing the last window.

I think the Kamikaze pilots had the same philosophy

Glasner and Sage in Forest managerial swap proposal

Why are people so fixated with our 2 wins . We should have been at least 2 up against Everton before they scored , against Ipswich with 10 men was the better side . And in Europe the lyon match was won by the ref . Do people look at that no . lets belittle our 2 lge wins . our finishing was better than there's simple fact , goals wins games not near misses

Coulda woulda shoulda might have been if only. The table doesn't lie - we're didn't and in Brighton's case they did..
