Brighton vs Crystal Palace match thread

Looked at 365 was 5/2 to go down last week now 11/4 . Get smashed and get better odds . But man city 13/8 now to go down . Don't think a 60 points is enough as they are still good enough to get a 100pts means there on 40 and safe

Fortunately I missed the game today.

I am in two minds about Sage, I like the way he gets us moving forward and when our passing is sharp like it was in the second half against Lyon then we look a good side.

Our defending however is so bad it’s comical. I think I would be happy if he swallows his pride and gets an experienced defensive coach on board to try and mould the defence into a shape that doesn’t give up 2 or 3 goals every game. I’m guessing this would be mostly to do with getting the central 3 operating better and the wingbacks just being slightly more reticent in their attacking as they
were against Leeds.

He has known since preseason we are not at the right levels, his words then and now. Can’t help think if he had the answer we would by now not be shipping goals like it’s gone out of fashion to defend. Only a quick reversal of present form can save his job. No change and it will need a manager known for having a successful defensive set up.

I don’t think it is Paddy but when we are defending set pieces, a coach comes forward and organising the team for defending zones not players. Sage takes a step back whilst this guy organises the team. I know Paddy has managed defending previously, but I really don’t think it is him. Point being, probably might need to change whoever this fella is asap.

I don't think things are that bad, we've definitely got a squad strong enough and if the rumours are true, City will be getting a 60 point deduction in the new year, so thats one team gone. We're still a fairly attractive job for most managers out there.
Keep going like this and City'll have sixty points by then anyway.

We’ve never really looked this disorganised before and therefore think it unlikely that Paddy is currently involved defensively, or maybe he just sits there in training shaking his head, muttering, “for fecks sake ya bunch of eejits”

I really don't think Sage should publicly criticize his own players. I don't see other managers doing it. He has plenty of opportunities during the week.
Three down in ten minutes, he has every right to criticise his players, if that's what he did. How much do these pampered tarts earn? In the interview I watched, he blamed himself which was magnanimous, to say the least.

Everyone knows that defence is a major problem but it's compounded by having a non-combative midfield. Timber looks as though he can put himself about but Wharton, Pino and, to a lesser extent, Kamada can't do much more than be vaguely in the way. Add in that Khalaili is a poor tackler as well and we're always inviting pressure. We really need a fit and in form Doucoure to come in. If not him who else have we got?

Is it just me or is Khalaili absolute shite?
So far yes. He is only 7 games into his career in the Premier League so he could improve. However he looks miles and miles out do his depth. I really can’t identify that he’s good at anything. Positionally I am not sure I’ve seen a worse player positionally. He then compounds that with daft decisions and panicky play. He doesn’t even look Championship standard.

He’s lucky the other right wing back has played dreadfully whenever we’ve seen him.

Mingueza was worse than him on Thursday! Not a great sign I know. But maybe it's the tactics. I think he'll come good if we simplify our tactics.

To be fair you could be right. Even Michell is regressing as the season is going on. That’s one of the worrying things, good players are looking worse and worse the longer they play for Sage

So, why did we loan out Cardines? He looked class and super confident whenever I saw him play last season. He reminded me of a young Kenny Sansom.

So is Wharton who's looking a shadow of himself.

Yes it's not a great sign.

With the disgruntled rumblings about Sage from before the international break I think he's on thin ice personally.

Unless there's clear unrest in the squad then I'd say it's fair to give him the next two games to show he can turn it around. But if he's lost the dressing room, then he'll be gone sooner.

The bigger question is why we sold Munoz and spent the same amount on somebody who looks like a much worse player … so far.
