Labour Party politics

They're a bit thick there aren't they. First Brexshit and next voting anti white person. Turkeys.

And now we find out Burnham did great for Manchester because the UAE coughed up a fortune that taxpayers couldn't
Whilst lending a UAE company £52m which presumably helped the £1.4billion debt he left

Take a step back and look objectively at what Burnham has actually done since becoming PM, is there anything tangible?

Plenty of rhetoric and tik tok but hard to find anything that will improve the lot of the citizen.
Only been in Commons twice since beginning of September apparently. The perfect example of a lame duck PM, no mandate, no workable ideas, surrounded by incompetent idiots.

Well I don’t consider myself thick but, on EU we will never agree. If you had a constituency that voted 68% to leave, who then voted in a staunch remainer, you must be a bit silly. Unless of course there was outside interference ( I have no proof but that doesn’t seem to matter these days)

France and Germany all over the place politically and economically.

It’s staggering to me how central Brexit is to some of your political identities.

The idea that voters in a local election in 2026 should be primarily concerned with the candidates 10-year old stance on Brexit is utter, utter lunacy.

One day there will be an honest conversation on what Brexit was and how it was won, but for now we still have this collective effort to not hurt anyone’s feelings.

After saying, in code, that we will be rejoining the EU, Burnham went on to say there is no intention to hold another referendum, so he will just get us in by stealth.
No. He has clearly stated he will not hold a referendum in this parliament.

Whether they put this on the ballot for the next parliament, we will have to wait and see.

There is a summit next month with the EU where certain issues are on the table to be discussed. Do any of them smack of creeping rejoin to you? If so, which one(s)?

The Tories and Reform do not appear overly exercised.

Early election then?

Yes, but by then the people who voted for it will have largely passed away.

The final report will be a song to the choir.

We have had that conversation many times, both before and after the vote. The problem used to be that far too many were so buried in prejudice they couldn’t hear it. Now that buyers remorse has set in there are enough to feel pretty sure of reversing the outcome.

So it’s moving fast. Put it on the manifesto as a commitment and you will secure the votes of everyone who thought it a stupid decision. Avoid an unnecessary, unconstitutional (in our system) referendum and the sun shines again.

Absolutely all of them.

Why? The bloke is fast becoming unveiled as a lying t***. What staggers me is those who bleat about democracy that could not bring themselves to accept the result and are still crying about it 10 years on.
Are you doing a Burnham and suggesting there was outside interference? Presumably there was no outside attempts to keep us in or was there?

No blind prejudices from the remain camp then?

That’s not quite what I meant - by ‘have the conversation’ I mean at national level, i.e. our media and politicians being honest about the campaigns and what’s happened since. I don’t think that’s really happened yet.

Buyers remorse has certainly not set in from what I see - leavers blame the type of Brexit we got, or the people who executed it, or the weather, or the star alignments or anything but the decision itself.

There is also just a real imbalance in terms of the importance of the topic. For a lot of leavers, rightly or wrongly, Brexit is a core part of their political identity and a complete red line - as you see on here, the second anyone hints at revisiting the topic, it’s a no-go. For most people who voted remain, the feeling isn't as strong and the prospect of rejoining is a mild positive at best.

Put any commitment to rejoin in a manifesto, with or without a referendum, and you lose more votes than you gain.
