Hi everyone,

Gordon has kindly given me permission to introduce Going to the Game here, so thanks to him for letting me post.

I'm Si Cox, and I know following your team can be expensive, especially once travel is added to the cost of a ticket. We’ve developed a free app for iPhone and Android to help supporters save money getting to games and build a better picture of how fans travel.

We’d love some Palace fans to give it a try for journeys to Selhurst Park and away grounds.

Already have your travel sorted? You can still take part.

You don’t need to car share, offer spare seats or change your usual arrangements. Whether you travel by coach, train, bus, car, on foot or by bike, you can record your journey and check in at the ground.

Families travelling together, groups of mates sharing a car and passengers on existing supporters’ coaches can all get involved. The app is intended to work alongside those arrangements, not replace them.

Looking to save on travel?

Fans who need a lift can connect with fellow Palace supporters, while drivers can offer spare seats and share journey costs. There’s also a fuel finder to help drivers look for cheaper petrol and diesel.

Why does logging your journey matter?

The more supporters who take part, the clearer the picture of matchday travel becomes. We can prepare anonymised summaries that could help the club understand supporters’ transport needs, estimate travel emissions and identify opportunities for lower-cost or lower-carbon journeys.

We also want to use that evidence to explore future rewards for participating fans, such as discounts, prizes or club experiences.

Fancy helping us try it out?

We’re looking for Palace supporters willing to use the app over six or seven fixtures and tell us what works, what doesn’t and what would make it more useful.

Download the app through our website, select Crystal Palace, then log your travel and check in when you attend a game:

No need to organise a lift to join in — your usual matchday journey counts too.

Happy to answer questions here. Honest feedback would be really appreciated, particularly from those already organising or sharing travel.

P.S. Palace fans who use Going to the Game to check in at matches during November will also be entered into a £100 prize draw. Each match check-in counts as one entry, so the more games you attend and check in at, the more entries you’ll have. Multiple entries are allowed.

Cheers,

Si Cox
