France is a Kip

EU Utopia for you - we should rejoin at once.
I am a Brexiteer but if we have to rejoin the EU now would be the best time.

Apparently the European Bank is maxed out in credit as it has been bailing out the EU. Financially and economically the EU is in trouble and desperately needs our money. The countries all queuing up to join are all takers and wont be putting in, we are the only potential donor.

It's why France, Germany and Spain are making nice noises.

So now would be a good time for Rejoiners to strike a tough deal, perhaps something that allowed us to keep the pound, avoid Schengen access to the customs union whilst still being allowed to negotiate our own trade deals with the rest of the world.

I have little faith that any government but especially a Labour one would be capable of striking a tough deal.

Just as Gordon Brown sold off our gold reserves at a rock bottom price I fully expect that any deal that Burnham strikes will have the EU laughing up their sleeves.

Problem is , we don't have any money

The negotiations would long outlast this parliament.

If Reform win the next GE, those discussions would be immediately dropped. The populist simplicity of that pledge might double their vote. And you wonder why it has not been proposed?

The Libs, the Greens and Labour would start discussions before the keys for number 10 were handed over. They know what is best for the country.

The Tories..? They also know. However, they are avoiding the subject like the plague. The linguistic gymnastics deployed by so called Brexiteers to side step direct questions on rejoining are entertaining at best. As ever they are torn on Europe, but another 180 degree shift is not off the cards.

And as for the maths. Trump still has a one third share of the support in the USA despite everything, and I suspect that reflects the support for Brexit here. However, that does not mean a landslide two thirds rejoin vote. Brexit still profits from demographics. Of the 67% who want to rejoin, a sizeable number will dither; and even more will stay in bed playing on their phones and complain later.

Meanwhile, every man jack of the 33% Brexit support will turn up, and it will be another tight run thing.

If we rejoined the EU it would be the best example of self-inflicted harm since Crystal Palace appointed Allan Mullery as manager.

A serious question, is it better, worse or the same, since Brexit, i haven't been to England for 11 years, so i have no opinion.

However it is now has nothing whatsoever to do with Brexit - apart from things would be worse if we were still in the EU.

Claptrap.

Had we boomed you'd be saying the opposite. You bang on about freedom but we've never been so without liberty
In the EU we could not elect the people that determine the laws that govern us. What have been these dire consequences of leaving the EU that you allude to?

I think the left will win next time in France.

What Le Pen is proposing is more of failed neo-liberalism, it is just like Thatcher, the rights policies are simply a re-enactment of past failure, the french are protesting against cuts, not for more of them.

😎

I'm behind these kids in France protesting. They want a better education. Of course the media is picking up on stories where some attack their Profs. which is obviously NOT a worthwhile or acceptable manifestation of protest.

More young people in this country should be protesting. They should be telling the older generations that the youth want a fair slice of the pie. Pay and rent with inflation in this country are absolutely ludicrous and most returns are going into paying the generous retirements of many of the 'ownership class'. I predict a riot.

There are genuine reasons for protests, I would agree. Price of everything really. However, these riots have been hijacked for various reasons too - the two are not mutually exclusive.

Also the clear burning things down is getting nowhere. Though I can understand how it happens after being in several situations myself. Things can get out of hand, it seems particularly in France.

But I would say that there is some pretty clear evidence of political interference in this case. Plus, of course spontaneous action - again the two are not mutually exclusive.

I would say there is no particular binary reason for the protest now. Although some are likely given as excuses. We all make excuses don't we? I'd lie like f*** to get me out of something. I frequently do. Wouldn't you, or they?

Yeah, you can get a better education by burning your school down and setting your teachers on fire!
