Main Stand redevelopment thread

There seems to be smoke from the fire of “ we have started something we can’t afford “.
I'd disagree with that. Parish more or less said the other day that we could probably have funded this project immediately had the board not decided to prioritize spending on the team.
A club Palace size cant do it all in one go and since we all wanted to be competitive on all fronts this season...
I'd imagine we are only £50m/£60m short of 'fully funded' anyway. A lot of money to us but to a Premiership Football club it is not insurmountable.

Exactly, take them away and what do we have, a club that gets 150 million a year, which about 80% probably goes straight on players wages. That could be relagated this year. I don't see too many banks queuing up to lend us £200 million.
How would you know?
The reality is the banks are probably doing exactly that. A well run sustainable club that turns over between £100m and £200m a year that has not been run irresponsibly since 2010 under previous ownership.
The problem isn't no one will lend the money. The problem is far more likely to be who is willing to lend Palace the money under the terms, rates and interest agreements that the club feels comfortable with.

Woody Johnson has bought into an established Premier League Club based in London with one of the best Chairmen in the game. Every business is a risk but maybe not a huge one in our case.

You are joking aint you ? Take premier league money away and we would barely be competitive with the majority of championship clubs.

So we get relegated, the Americans spend the next 15 years keeping us afloat in the championship with their own money. Im sure you'll be screaming what a great job they're doing ?

That fact we've been in the prem since they invested probably tells us they ain't actually quite that bad.

There's alot of clubs in that bracket in the Premier

We don't turn over 200 million a year do we, we get 150 million given to us by sky, mainly because of the global fanbases, man u, arsenal and Liverpool have managed to generate. Let every club negotiate their own tv deal and see how well we do. Take prem money away and see how much we generate as a club.

Take the Americans out of our club and there's no way you're competing with other top flight clubs, even with PSR

Having Optimism is thinking we might well win on Saturday. Thinking we will end up with a fully redeveloped ground to challenge the elite is bonkers!
That really depends on investment. Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal all had old traditional grounds until someone spent money on redevelopment. As the only club from South London in the Premier League, I see no reason why we can't follow a similar path. The others might work to stay ahead of the pack, of course, but the trajectory is upward for everyone.

Money makes all things possible. It just needs someone wealthy who wants to make it happen.

They are shareholders, their independent wealth doesn't come in to it.

Thats the same situation for probably 30 other clubs. 10/12 of them are currently in the Premiership right now whereas the rest are surviving hand to mouth in the Championship

We did last year. Granted we're not going to win the Europa Conference League every year but we did last year

Bournemouth, Villa, Newcastle, Brentford, Brighton, Fulham and a whole lot more clubs each have very wealthy investors as well so I dont really see your point

Exactly, take them away from them clubs and they will all struggle, what do people want instead ? A state owned club from the middle east ? A dodgy Italian who wants to set us up as part of an MCO. I dont know of too many croydon billionaires who have got 900 million for the club, well there's Philip green, he would be a great idea.

I’m not saying they’re that bad. These people are hard bitten American financiers not Palace fans. They’re involved with us for a reason and we all know what that is. If it’s in their interests to fund ground improvements to increase their wealth they will. If not they won’t. And I can’t see how it’s in their short or medium term interests to do that. Sorry if that sounds negative.

And we know this how exactly ? For all we know they could be quite happy to put their assets against a loan for the new stand. They're not ideal but there's far worse owners out there and as a club we're far better off with them than without.

So you think they’re Palace fans and not hard bitten American investors? Really ?

But they haven’t done that, have they?
