Crystal Palace welcome Bristol City for a friendly

Whoever decided to ring up Bristol City for a friendly didn't do their research.

We do ok at Selhurst but our record at Ashton Gate is horrendous.
In fact anyone younger than 55ish has probably never witnessed a win there.
March 1980 was the last time we won there.
No wins in 12 visits.

I went just after Christmas 2010 I think it was and Neil Danns scored what we thought was a superb winner, but the buggers equalised

Remember the goal that Freddie Sears scored against them. He hit it so hard that it hit the advertising hoarding behind the goal, bounced out, and the ref said it hadn't gone in (pretty similar to the Clive Allen one against Cov)

Oh dear!, now we struggle to score against a championship side and worst still lose 0-2, things are not good even with a few second choice players as starters. Friendly or not losing like this makes me concerned for the rest of the season at the moment.
Is that beyond winning 3 of the last 4?

I think what it shows is how weak we are without our players away on international duty. Supposedly we now have a bigger squad to play in our many cup and premier games over the coming season? Today showed we don’t :-(
Or how serous we take friendlys , as said before we have won all our friendlys before and still lost most of our early games , its a stretching of the legs exercise , there's no financial gain from it

We have 11 players away on international duty and some of those remaining are first choice and of proven quality, for example Wharton and Mitchell. I don't think Wharton, Mitchell, Chilwell, Lerma, Benitez, Disasi etc can realistically be described as weak. It was just a bad day at the office and a meaningless friendly.

I didn’t go to that one, but I was at the Clive Allen game, I’d just turned 16😇

Wasn’t warnock manager for the sears one?

I don’t think he hit it hard, it was more of a tap in from a cross. He was just unfortunate that it hit the hoarding.

Reading v Watford around that time was the opposite. The ball went half a yard wide of the goal and the linesman who was on that side of the pitch flagged to indicate a goal.

Big punch up in the park outside the ground after the Coventry game.A policeman skidded on his motorbike and fell off trying to intervene and everyone stopped fighting to take a look!

I didn't see that, not that I can remember anyway, maybe plod should try a few more near death experiences when it kicks off to stop the fighting at games🤣

Yup I was there for that one.

A rare creature. An apology from the chief ref.
