Ismaïla Sarr

Eze follows in a long tradition of talented players in the England who aren’t trusted.
This goes back to the days of Bowles, Hudson, Worthington, Currie,Marsh, Le Tissier etc.

It will ever be thus in my view with the fundamental mistrust of natural talent with more emphasis on what you will lose than what you will gain through inclusion of these players.

With regard to Eze, it obviously can’t be proven, but I genuinely can’t see us having won the FA Cup without him.

It would be more difficult to think of a worse club and worse manager for him to join than Arsenal and Arteta.
A functional, win at all costs approach, with an overindulgence in robust physicality and cheating.
Sure , Arsenal might use him in the League against Hull and Coventry or in cup games, but for important games he’s likely to remain a peripheral figure.

Back on the subject on Sarr, there’s an argument that he’s the only player in the squad that provides a direct threat running in behind with the requisite pace and quality to threaten defences.
I wouldn’t be too keen to move him on until we we can demonstrate that we have at least one proven player who provides the same level of threat.
And Hoddle

I’ll probably annoy a few with this but when I look back at Eze’s best season for us and Sarr’s best season I reckon Sarr’s overall contribution was better.

He doesn’t have that exquisite turn or occasional worldy goal but he is super quick, was a constant threat, scored a lot of goals and didn’t have too many awful games where he’d go totally missing.

Eze is undoubtedly the one you’d pay more to go and watch but is he the most effective player?

Having said all that I don’t like the way Sarr has dealt with the last window and I’d be happy to see him go. If we could effectively swap Sarr, Mateta and Nketiah for two goalscoring forwards then I’d be happy with that.

Agree with every word

Maybe he doesn't; maybe he isn't particularly; perhaps he has just had an injury as the club stated. Why assume the club's 'covering up' and the clickbait and an obviously hooky agent are to be trusted?
In either case it's a good escape clause for him - "None of this was my fault and I love this club and it's fans".
Then he can leave and do it somewhere else.

100% correct.

Eze could create something out of nothing. Sarr doesn't really get involved too much, but has been hugely effective with the chances presented.

Will just be interesting to see what version of Sarr we get....haven't seen too much so far

Eze is still in the England set up and went to the WC (unlike other No10s like Palmer and Gibbs White).

Arsenal currently has a WC winner (Merino) on their bench too, so maybe the Arsenal bench is better than average

Tuchel is a mug

I still think Eze leaves Arsenal either in January or end of season on loan, follows the Zaha route.
You can’t blame the kid for wanting to play for a bigger club but as so many have found out, being special and loved at Palace does not mean you are a superstar at a big club. Wilf suited Palace. Eze suited Palace, a place where he was free to make mistakes and disappear out of games only to win a match on his own. You are not going to get away with that at Arsenal. Olise and Guehi were always going to make it at any club.

Sarr is much more Wilf and Eze than Olise. He will do nothing at a bigger club.

I don't think arsenal are the type of club to let a £50m asset go out on loan. I do however think he'll be sold next summer when they can bring in a replacement.

Re Sarr ; another example of Liverpool trying to bully a smaller club into parting with an asset.

Coming in late in a transfer window with a low bid....sound familiar ?

Palace are then left with the headache of managing a player that has just seen a ' dream ' move not materialise through no fault of their own.

If this eventually sinks in with Sarr and his odious agent, then it's to be hoped Sarr gets his act together. If he still wants a move then the best way to get one is to re-apply himself and start performing for Palace.

Poor Eze, 4 substitute appearances this season, 88 minutes in total. Gone from being the superstar in our team to warming the Arsenal bench. Yes, I can see Arsenal shipping him on at the end of the season, hopefully back to us.

He wont come back the player that left.

I suspect the Continent beckons.

He's in his comfort zone at the club he wanted to be. Has talent but fails to apply it consistently so the bench is the place for him whilst at Arsenal. Maybe he'll end up at Forest.

I suspect he'll get enough mins this season.

Clearly not in the first 11, but they will be fighting on a few fronts, and injuries will build up.

I don’t agree with this opinion, respectfully. Eze does not hide and won’t be happy on the bench. He might well end up at Forest as a swap for Gibbs-White however.

There is no way we could or should pay him the salary he is now on at Arsenal. Like those other recently moved on to top of the table clubs we couldn’t now afford them unless they are into their 30’s and out of contract. We pass them on like other small prem teams, not bring them back and pay top salaries which would bankrupt us

If a player like that comes back it has to be because they want to, or in other words they accept that there would be an expectation of a reduction in salary to do so.

I suppose there is always the argument that if you are failing at the top table then maybe you are not worth quite as much as you thought you were. This happened to an extent when we got Zaha back from United.

I don't think we'd have to. Arsenal would have to pay some compensation if they decide to sell him plus the contract would probably be longer than the 2 seasons he has left at arsenal (if sold next summer) so that may equate to similar net earnings overall.
