Ismaïla Sarr

To whoever it was that argued with such great authority on the matter that it was £35m and not £50m that l'pool bid for him, parish has just confirmed it was the latter!!
 
In his interview in the Athletic, Parish appears in his understated way to blame the issue over the summer on Sarr’s agent and Liverpool; the agent for raising unrealistic expectations of Sarr getting a move so close to the end of the window and Liverpool for bidding at perhaps half of market value.
Parish alludes to the fact that if it had been earlier in the window and at a proper price, then perhaps there was a deal to be done.
The tension seems to be more between the agent and the club rather than the player and the club.

Taking into account the fiasco with Guehi last summer too, I get the impression that Parish is less than impressed by Liverpool’s approach to transfer dealings.

The thing is it’s Liverpool who lose out as they would be so much stronger with Guehi and Sarr in their ranks, particularly when you consider how they have overspent on lesser players.

Parish seems optimistic that Sarr will come back into the fold and give his best.
I suppose he better if he wants to enhance his chance of a move to a so called ‘bigger’ club.

You're right that he is quoted as saying that (£45m is closer to £50m anyway) but i've only read an article and it started by saying that parish told l'pool where to go after they bid £50m.

I think parish's comment was for dramatic effect rather than absolute accuracy.

Who's surprised? Footballer's agents are a curse on the game. Simon Jordan was right to pick a fight with them. It's a pity they've been allowed to flourish.
